iPad no longer accepts PayPal???

I purchased an app with my iPad two days ago. Today it says "PayPal is not supported on this device."

FWIW, that the only method of payment I'm going to use on the internet. Has Apple picked a fight with PayPal now that they've got one going with Adobe and Google?

Or is this just a new bug?

There was a hack from iTunes to paypal that was causing a lot of money being stolen. So instead of telling anyone, they are turning off paypal while they work on a fix. Apple isn't good about PR. They just hope they can fix stuff before too many people make it public. Pay pal is no longer an option on my account. Hopefully I wasn't on a server or something that was at risk. Maybe it was only certain accounts that got quarantined to have pay pal disconnected. I found out from an automated email from pay pal stating that my service agreement was cancelled.

I had this issue, and no matter how many times I tried to authorize my paypal using iTunes, it never seemed to do any good. Then I signed into paypal, clicked profile, under the money tab, check your payment authorizations. Look at the iTunes details, and at least on mine it said my primary source was my paypal balance, and my backup source was not specified, even though for my main paypal settings my bank account is my backup source. So, I set it to use my bank account and voila, now my iPad works just fine! Hope this helps some of you!!!

Well, I had the same "no paypal on this device" dealie.

I switched to credit card. All purchases fine after that.

Tonight I am trying to re-authourize Paypal, went through the steps, think I'm back using Paypal as my Payment method....but when I go to look at my account on iTunes, guess what method it shows as my payment method?

yup.

you guessed it.

the credit card.

*sneers derisively at Apple*

now I can't even get connected to the Store.

eesh.

Had a similar problem and it turned out to be that the agreement between Paypal and iTunes was rejected due to inconsistent information.

How I fixed it -Logged into iTunes, went to Payment Information EDIT, selected PayPal and pressed CONTINUE. This took me to Paypal's website where I updated the agreement.

After accepting the agreement Paypal's website will automatically bring you back to iTunes. iTunes will tell you if the transaction was successful or not. After that iTunes asks for your current billing information.

That took care of the "Paypal is not supported on this device" error message.

It turns out that Paypal generates a transaction ID number that must verified by iTunes. (I realized it after I failed to updated the information correctly the first time and iTunes rejected Paypal's agreement request.)

Hope it helps...

Having a bunch of problems with payment method. My CC has always been accepted and in good standing. As of 2 days ago, kept being denied because suddenly "zip code didn't match bank account". re-entered info several times on itunes and still kept getting same message. Went to open a PayPal account with same CC, no problem.

Rented a couple of movies on AppleTV paying now with PayPal, no problem.

Tried to buy apps on ipad and got message that PayPal is not supported on this device. ***??

Today tried to rent a movie on AppleTV (again, using PayPal) and was able to rent 1 movie. Then tried to rent a 2nd movie and got a message that I have to go to itunes on my computer to check my billing info because there's some problem with PayPal.

So now I'm screwed. All that is left is to buy the pre-paid itunes gift cards?

I kind of stumbled onto a possible fix. I kept getting the error and corrected iTunes and Paypal and they both seemed synced. The problem for me was in the APP Store app. I had purchased something that went through but my CC had expired 2011. I add the new CC in the APP Store and clicked reset notifications and it worked. There are three things that need to be synced iTunes, App Store, and Paypal.

I set up PayPal a year ago when I got my iPad and purchases have worked like a charm. This Christmas I received an iTunes gift card. After entering the gift card into my account and purchasing, not only did my gift card balance show the deduction, but I had a confirmation from PayPal of the purchase. It seemed as if I paid twice for the app. (from my gift card and through paypal). I logged into iTunes, and changed my billing option away from PayPal to 'none' while using the balance on my gift card. Now with only a few cents left, I attempted to reestablish PayPal with iTunes Store and got a screen confirmation that the agreement was complete. I assumed I was good to go again. Yesterday while trying to purchase from my iPad, I got an error message that I had insufficient funds in my iTunes balance (assuming they mean the few cents left on my gift card). I don't understand why it did not get paid for by PayPal. Also, the only way you can actually find the 'PayPal' option is by logging into iTunes on my desktop computer, then going to the store, and editing payment options. The PayPal option is not there by logging directly into iTunes Account through a web browser. Only Credit Card options show. Any ideas on how to get PayPal going again with iTune?
