iPad no longer accepts PayPal???

I purchased an app with my iPad two days ago. Today it says "PayPal is not supported on this device."

FWIW, that the only method of payment I'm going to use on the internet. Has Apple picked a fight with PayPal now that they've got one going with Adobe and Google?

Or is this just a new bug?

I tried to install Smart Budget on my Ipad and I received a notice about PayPal and can no longer make purchases with iTunes using PayPal as a payment method. It says "there's a problem with a previous purchase. Please update your payment method." Everything is updated as far as cc information and still unable to do anything, to include updating the apps I already have. My latest purchase was less than a week ago when I purchased the The Shack. I don't remember using PayPal for this purchase. Could have sworn I used my cc......it's now 2012 and this issue still occurs. Is there a solution to this madness?

This worked for me....Strange, looking back, I did exactly what my IPAD told me to do...but the error on the screen was not clear.

1. login to Itunes from your computer

2. Verify that your device is connected. If not, resolve that issue.

3. Go to Store from the menu bar, and select Search

4. Search for the same application you were trying to install on your Ipad.

5. From here, I don't recall the exact steps, but it was easy, just follow the prompts. In my case, this happened when I changed my password in Paypal. I had to "reaffirm" it was me, authorizing the payment. Thank you Apple, for taking care of me, again.

Thank you OrangeMarlin, for forcing me to "read my screen". I am bugged however, by apple not answering these forums/creating error messages that are clearer and more "user friendly"

Update... Two years later. I'm on iOS 6 on my iPad mini. Not once in the last year or so have I had an issue with PayPal and app purchases. My Paypal account is directly linked to my bank account. There's no credit card... This morning I got "your PayPal translation was declined" and I can't even check my account because "PayPal is not supported on this device"

I had this same problem also. The problem has to do with your credit card number associated with you iCloud account. To solve this problem, you need to update your credit card/payment information by doing the following on your iPad / iPhone / iTouch:

Settings > iCloud > click on your account > Payment Information

Update this section with your correct credit card information and Save.

Don't know what is going on with Apple, but I had essentially the same problem. I usually use Android - but have a few iPods floating around and have about $50 in store credit. My daughter uses one of the iPods and came to me saying that she was buying a "free" app and an error came up asking for PayPal info. Sounded like fraud to me and I told her delete that app if it did download, never download the app from that developer and watch out for messages asking for account info.

So I went to download the Sony Play Memories app for my new NEX 6 and I got the same error. ***?!!! The app is free and I have ca. $50 in store credit, why would Apple care about my PayPal account- I didn't even know Apple had access to my PayPal. What's up Apple?!!! Can't download free apps because of my PayPal account?!!!!

So after perusing this board I tried and eventually gained access to my iTunes store settings and changed my credit card settings to "none" and all was good.

Apple, why not just 1) let anybody download free apps even if you don't have their updated credit card info and 2) if you are going to block us from our account for something, couldn't you give an error message that makes some sense?!!!

I'm up in a cabin in the mountains with limited internet access and this has been a pain in the (expletive deleted!)

I am experiencing the same issue. I went onto my computer and ensured my PayPal account works with the AppStore. I verified it was fine but I still get the same message on my iPad and I can't update any of the apps that I had already purchased through PayPal. Even if I want to upgrade an existing app, I can't do it.

Please tell me there is a resolution for this.
