iTunes 10 won't recognise my iPod 3rd Gen anymore.

Today I installed the new iTunes 10, and now my iPod touch 3rd gen won't connect to it. My laptop has found it as a camera / image driver, and it charges up. However it doesn't appear on the iTunes left side panel, as it has done in previous versions.

Can anyone help?

I've uninstalled it a couple of times, along with the other apple programs, but still nothing.

Thanks!

Hi Bangor72,

For Windows XP: You should right-click on your computer, then select Manage. A window named "Computer Management" opens: in the navigation tree on the left, under System Tool, you will find Device Manager. There you should find your iPod (Universal Serial Bus controllers)

I guess you try to follow instructions shared by JonNichols above. I don't want to discourage you but I followed it and it didn't work... 😟 Maybe it is because it is for Windows 7. But thanks to JonNichols (and other participants) for sharing!

Hi folks
After installing iTunes 10 my iPod touch went straight into restore mode! nothing I have tried has worked - iTunes restore just sits there saying it is restoring the iPod but after 10 mins or so says failure to restore error 2003!! very helpful. Not made any modifications since last synch apart from putting iTunes 10 on, so its a problem there - suggestions please as its driving me mad!!!!!

I have a question, that maybe you are able to answer to me. i have a 3rd generation ipod touch, that i have to update to a 4.1 software version. i was wondering why i have to update it by restoring it? why isnt there another way around updating it. and why i also had to uninstall all of the usb drivers, and had to restart the computer in order to be able to sync it to itunes? please help me figure this out, unless anyone else can help me besides this kind person.

iTunes 10 won't recognise my iPod 3rd Gen anymore.
