iTunes 10 and Visualizer

I don't know that a lot of people use it, but the visualizer is all messed up with the iTunes 10 upgrade. A little history. I have a mac mini hooked up to the TV in the living room. I use it to listen to music through the AV system all the time. I don't like having the screen saver come on, and then have the screen go to sleep, so I usually turn on the visualizer. It's cool to have on in the background, and is a nice conversation piece. 🙂

Up until yesterday, when I upgraded to 10, the visualizer would keep the screen active, preventing the screen saver, and sleep mode from kicking in. This is no longer the case in 10. It will allow the screen saver to come on, and move the visualizer from full screen back to the iTunes window... and then the screen will go to sleep.

There are so many things I dislike about this upgrade... Anyone else have this same issue? Any ideas on a fix for this one?

don't have a fix...just wanted to add one more voice to those having visualizer problems!

my problems are:

1) can't turn it off without quitting iTunes using keyboard!
2) S-L-O-W starting...takes several seconds of a blank screen before any images appear!

going to send this to the iTunes bug reporting site, but just wanted to add it here, too, in case a REAL Apple genius knows how to fix these problems!

thanks & good luck!

While it's not ideal, by selecting "Disable Screen Saver" as one of your Hot Corners in Exposé you can override your Screensaver and Energy Saver settings.

When entering Fullscreen mode in the iTunes visualizer, just place your mouse in the chosen corner.

I tested this with OSX 10.6.5 and iTunes 10.1, and it worked without any problems.
Hope that helps!
