iPhone (4) Voice Memos not Syncing to New iTunes 10.0

I'm currently on an iPhone 4 (4.0.1 firmware) and I've been experiencing issues getting my voice memos to sync to my iTunes library.

The last time this worked was August 27, 2010 which added 3 voice memos to my iTunes library successfully. Since then, I have not yet updated my firmware but have installed the new iTunes 10.0. I have 8 new voice memo recordings on my phone since the last successful sync, and I've tried syncing my phone four times today, Sept. 4, (restarting iTunes and my iPhone) with no luck. I tried recording a new voice memo to see if iTunes 10 would recognize any memos recorded after the installation but that failed as well.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

*Is there a solution to synchronizing voice memos to iTunes?*
I just bought my phone so I started w/ the latest version of iTunes and firmaware for the phone. It sychronized my first to voice memos and that's it, it wont upload any new ones. I read the previous posts, I had already checked off the include voice memos and voice memos playlist. Then I tried organizing my library (long shot but worth a try), after that I restarted my cell and computer. Nothing, I still can't upload my voice memos to my computer. So my question is: Is there a solution? if so What is it?

I'm on OSX 10.6.4, iPhone 3GS (4.0.1 firmware) and the new iTunes 10.0. Like everyone else I'm having difficulty syncing voice memos to computer - and it seems to me each attempt at synching copies another version of the original files from one platform to the other.

Does 'synch' automatically copy changes made (for example to file names) back onto phone or does one have to do that manually? Voice memos that I've given new file names to on my phone aren't copying across either. And the date/times of recordings seem to be completely random...

How do we go about communicating these issues to apple? I was hoping to use my phone and new plug-in microphone for recording interviews but it's pointless if I can't get them onto my computer for transcription...

Breaking news! I just managed to transfer recent voice memos from phone to itunes using file>synch iphone. Weird. When I renamed them (again!) in itunes they kept their names in the music library and after dragging them from itunes to iphone and syncing the phone again the files appear just once (but without new file names) in the iphone drop down menu... however on the phone itself there are still multiple unnamed copies ; ) Weirder and weirder...

Same here, I can see new Voice Memos on the iPhone but they are invisible to iTunes. Since June 2010. all previous Voice Memos show up and will sync. I could be wrong but I think this dates from the iTunes upgrade. I called Apple yesterday and just as was noted above, they acted like they'd never heard of this before. I'm desperate - all the interviews for my book are on the **** phone. iTunes explorer, Senuti and all other apps do not see these new Voice Memos either. If I lose the iPhone, I lose the whole book APPLE!

I am just on here having upgraded by iTunes and iPhone with the 4.1 version on my 3Gs phone. I now cannot get my voice memos to play on my phone. I can play them from my computer but I like listening to the lectures in my car. The voice memos show up on the iPhone BUT when I hit the play button it skips to some other random iTunes song or older memo that I converted before Voice Memos could sync.

The other thing is that they are not showing up under the voice memo playlist. In fact the voice memo playlist does not sync at all even though it is checked. Instead I find them under the playlist I made as "Updated iPod list". And then they show up at the end of the a-z list under numbers since they are listed by dates. Any IDEAS? This is why I hate updating to any new versions because just when you get things working then this happens. Too Much TIME is lost.

I somehow fixed the issue by 1) deleting the Voice Memo playlist, 2) restarting my iMac, 3) plugging the iPhone to the imac. iTunes came up and a new Voice Memo playlist was created with the voice memos I had been trying to get transferred. Not sure if this will work for everyone, but for now anyway it worked for me.

This is for everyone who wants to know how to 'fix' the Voice Memo problem, and not addressed at anyone in particular. *Please read completely before trying anything listed here.*

Please remember that if you try the following, check for correct function after every step and *+report back if something worked+*. In other words, try step one, check to see if it worked. If it did, let us know so we can get to the bottom of this. If not, go on to step two, and check.

Steps to try if you have a Mac :

1. Restart your Mac. Yes, it may be just that simple.

2. Reset the PRAM : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

3. Organize your files. From iTunes 10 : File -> Library -> Organize Library

4. Try manually synching by using the File -> Sync command, or just clicking on the Sync button in the lower right of the iTunes 10 window.

5. Run Software Update. Install any updates your Mac may need.

6. Uninstall and reinstall iTunes 10.

7. Back-up and Restore your iPhone. Make sure you know what you are doing before you even think of using this step. This will completely nuke all data on your iPhone/iPod. *Your data will be gone forever if you do not have a valid back-up in place before you Restore.*

This is what I can think of off the top of my head to completely reset your Mac/iPhone-iPod/iTunes. It's also time-consuming and some steps are risky if you care about your data. Please make sure you are 100% confident you have a back-up of your iPhone/iPod before doing anything to your iPhone/iPod.

*Remember : report back if you find something that works!*

Am using an iMac on Mac OS X 10.6.4, iTunes 10.0.1 and iPhone 4 (iOS 4.1).

I also experienced the same problem and it was overcome by using a third party cable (in my case, the black cable that came with the Belkin car charger). Then when i switched back to the Apple cables that came with my iPhone 4 and 3GS, the voice memos did not sync again.

Hope this helps.
