No longer can manually add artwork.

Upgraded to 10.0, and now I lost some of my album artwork. So, I decided to manually add artwork like I have had to do in the past, but now it doesn't work.
In the 'Get Info' pane, 'Artwork' is grayed out.
In the 'Multiple Item Information' pane, I tried to add artwork there, but iTunes wouldn't take it.

Any ideas?

I have been trying this and found something that has worked once so far [that's also 100%]. My original compositions were impoted to iTunes as WAV files [I am also a Musician]. I converted them to AIFF [from the iTunes library] and put those AIFF files in a new playlist. I was then able to add a photo that I had on my desktop. I could NOT add the photo when they were WAV files. I printed it and so far it works!

If the album art wont "stick" then try changing the permissions of the song files on your hard drive. Right click file/folder > properties > attributes. Mine were set to "read only" and I could not change artwork manually. Changing the permissions allowed me to change the album art. If you arent sure where your music files are located, right click a song and click "show in windows explorer"

I had the same problem with .wav files that were imported from a CD and artwork would not stick; what worked for me was using a conversion program, I used All2MP3, a free super easy program, you just drag and drop the files into it, it converts them and erases your old ones (if you choose). Once that was done I imported them to iTunes and the artwork stuck no problem. One caveat was, after dragging into iTunes, I couldn't find the songs under the Artist or Album name, (the conversion must strip this information) so I had to search under the "Songs" heading, select them all, select Get Info, then write in the Album and Artist names in the info box while also dragging the artwork in as others have described here.

I have just had this problem, on one track only, weird, til I realised I had imported a WAV file of the song. Converted it to MP3, imported it again, presto, the add artwork icon lit up (so to speak) and no problem adding artwork. Why itunes will accept WAV files, but not let you add artwork, I've no idea. Just another bit of weird Apple stuff...

I was having the same problem specifically with movie files on my ipad that I added manually. The "Add Artwork" button is greyed out in the dialogue box, but I clicked on the artwork thumbnail (the default is a film frame) and that worked! It popped up a dialogue and I could select the artwork I downloaded from google. Hopefully that is helpful!

for you to add artwork to your music files in you will need to find the files in windows explorer and un check the read only box in properties and then add the artwork by right clicking on the album in i tunes then selecting get info then click on album art then search for the required artwork select ok and hey presto it should be done this was the only solution that worked for me

I am not sure why, but this absolutely worked for me. All that other stuff I tried, and it was the same problem. Artwork for the wrong song would show up, and I couldn't change it. The other alternative was to delete the whole playlist, re-convert to wma files, then let ITunes convert to mp3, then the correct artwork could be re-added. But the one under this link definitely was a better option. If your music files properties are showing Read Only, that would make sense that in essence you lock in certain artwork. I just couldn't understand why the wrong artwork was showing up. For example I had Janet J's Velvet Rope, but the artwork was showing up as Jock Jams! Thanks!

No longer can manually add artwork.
