Burn CD icon missing from iTunes 10

I can burn the CD with the file menu, but this requires an extra step. I miss the burn CD icon.

To those who complain that "burning cd's are a thing of the past"...
You obviously are the Younger generation Y people >:(
Your ARROGANCE is unbelievable!!!!

People STILL buy CDs and listen to CDs!

How is that so hard to understand?!!

Instead of downloading "free" music online, go "BUY" CD's and support your artists!

**** Apple removed the "Burn CD" button when people still like to burn CDs!

Now... you must highlight your playlist then right-click the mouse (for those that have a left/right button mouse) then Burn playlist to CD!

Adding insult to injury... there's NO bar or musical chime that lets users know when the burning process is done!

***??!?!!

Typical Apple.. make life harder for the general public!
Apple is becoming like Microsoft!!

Crazier still, when I try to burn a CD using my external super drive with my MacBook Air, the resulting CD has no title and no track titles! Just Audio CD and Track 1, 2, etc.

My preferences all clearly indicate it should include titles, text, etc.
This happens also when I use the Toast Titanium program, so maybe it is a glitch in the writing capabilities of the external optical drive?

Very frustrating, as with write-only CDs I cannot go in and modify the titles, it just becomes an annoying CD with no onscreen info about any of the tracks. Mystery music!

Audio CD do not have any file info on them.
You can select to burn CD-TEXT to the disc but some players will not read CD-TEXT. iTunes will write but not read CD-TEXT.

No, it the format of the audio CD whcih doe snot allow for any ifo except as contained in CD-TEXT and then only some players will read CD-TEXT.

Dude seriously, chill out. I am afraid you're going to have a conniption fit or something. No one was complaining that Burning CDs is a thing of the past. Yes people still burn CDs and still Listen to CDs and still buy CDs. But if we are honest with ourselves, a large majority of the population has moved away from using CDs.

This is really not that big of a deal, and not something worth freaking out about. I burn CDs all the time, yeah the button was nice and I kinda hope that they put it back in there, but it's not the end of the world. It's still almost exactly the same amount of effort to right click the playlist and click burn, and you have to highlight the playlist with the burn icon either way, so I fail to see the issue.

I just burned three CDs in the time it took me to write this reply, and I had a progress bar and a chime to let me know when I was finished, so I am not understanding what people are talking about there.

I just don't understand what the big deal is, or why some people need to get into such a tizzy about the whole ordeal. If you have a problem with it, send Apple an email, I am sure they will be glad to hear about it.

This is What you guys do the buttons are not missing, they set them up differently.

Step 1. Create you're own playlist

Step 2. Grab a blank dics.

Step 3. After you have created you're playlist and have you're cd, inject it into the computer.

Step 4. (INPORTANT) SAVE PLAYLIST, AND THEN RIGHT CLICK ON YOU'RE PLAYLIST THAT YOU WANT TO BURN. AFTER YOU RIGHT CLICK YOU'RE PLAYLIST A LIST SHOULD COME UP GIVING YOU THE OPTION TO SELECT (BURN PLAYLIST TO DISC).

Final step. A window should pop up on you're screen giving you options on what format to put the cd in.

And their you have it. Have fun and good luck.

Yeah, I too am frustrated with how Apple has obscured and complicated the burning process. I really don't want to have to make a playlist of an existing album instead of the old way when you could just select the album in your library and burn from there.

So you know what? The heck with iTunes. When I want to burn I use Toast which gives you more control and feedback about the size of your files relevant to the size of th CD, etc. plus you can burn MP3 CDs using Toast.

Hope that helps. But COMPLAIN is still a good thing for us all to do...

It is no different than it has been (except the Burn button is not displayed)..

This was never an option in iTunes.

A playlist was ALWAYS required to burn a CD.

No it's not. It simply clutters up the forum with waste

You can send suggestions to Apple here -> http://www.apple.com/feedback/

though it's not clear what you want to suggest.

Chris, i hate to disagree, but you used to be able to select the songs you wanted to burn from your Library and the burn icon in the lower right would become active and you clicked it and burned. Easy. Simple.

You did not have to create a playlist. Unless I'm completely forgetting. But I don't think so. If so, my apologies. I don't remember how many versions ago this was, but it was awhile ago, that much I remember, as in the earlier days of iTunes.

As far as complaining, I didn't mean complain here. That would be, agreed, a waste of Discussion space not to mention ineffective as I don't think Apple scours Discussions looking for complaints.

I meant, and see now perhaps I wasn't clear, I meant complain using the CONTACT US link at the bottom right found on any page on the Apple site. On the Contact Us page on the lower right is a list of contact links. Choose Product Feedback and in the middle of that page under "OSX Apps" is an icon for iTunes - top row center. Click that, fill in the form page and express your feelings.

Sorry if I wasn't clear and confused you and others.

I'm pretty sure you are completely forgetting.

The icon was there but in order to click it, you had to select a playlist.

Chris, so if you imported a new album and didn't create a playlist, are you saying that you COULD burn the album by choosing the album in your Library? Or just that if you didn't create the playlist, you had to and then you'd have both the playlist of all the songs in a particular album which would be a total duplicate to the album folder in the Library.

I'm not Chris, but NO that is not the case and never has been.

Yes, if you import an album you have always had to also create a playlist for the album in order to burn it to a CD. This is an extra step, and a duplication, but it's always been that way with iTunes.

Some people when they add an album to iTunes, create a playlist of that album when they 1st add it to iTunes.

Creating a playlist does not make a duplicate of anything. It simply adds a playlist which is pretty much not needed since you can select the album in the iTunes browser.

A playlis tis simply that. A list of songs which are in the library

If you add the same song to 100 different playlists, the song is sttill in the library only 1 time.
