Ricoh 3245C with access codes for color printing

Hello,

We have a Ricoh 3245C and some MacBook Pro users with OS X Snow Leopard. The printer is configured so that a user needs an access code to print in color, but anyone can color in black and white.

When Mac users try to print, the print queue says the job is paused, and the job never prints. It doesn't matter if the document is color or B and W.

Help.

Thanks,
Josh

Hello Matt, I'm hoping you can give me similar advice on this issue. I'm using a Ricoh Aficio MP6500 printer in our office and we use the user codes option, not the basic authentication that you reference in the last post.

Please start a new thread. I will also need to know all the basic information covered here:
Is PostScript module installed?
What languages does your printer understand?
What drivers are you using?
How are you entering your User Code?
How are you connecting to the printer -- what protocol?

Hey Matt,

First off I want to thank you so much for this script. You have no idea how much it has helped me and my clients out.

I just ran into a problem though, when I ran RicohUserCodes.zip script on a brand new Mac running Yosemite.

It prompted me for the administrator password, and when I put it in, it went straight to logout (end the script) without prompting me for any user code info.

I even tried running the script as root and it did the same thing.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I probably asked for the password too soon - before any real action was supposed to take place. What you report is possible in any version of OS X if there are no printers installed regardless of make or driver. A similar action would take place if no appropriate Ricoh printers were found. However, in that case, you should have been notified that no Ricoh printer queues were found. Are you sure a valid printer case has been added to the computer?
