Charging while off

I just got the 13.3 macbook pro, and was curious if I can charge it while being off? I currently do not see a light on the charger when the computer is off. Does the computer have to be on to charge?

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies. It has now been fixed. I don't think the connection was good, but it is charging fine at the moment. Unfortunately, I now have a new issue:

I just transferred a windows folder called "My music" from an external hard drive to my new macbook pro. Within the "My music" folder, I had 3 sub folders. Each sub folder was a different genre of music (a few hundred songs in each). Once the transfer was complete, "my music" folder on the mac is now filled w hundreds of individual artist folders with 1 or 2 songs within them. How can I keep it the way it was? I just want 1 folder w 3 sub folders and each sub folder filed with songs?!?!

Please help a new mac user.

You can import your music into itunes keeping the files in their original location. In iTunes, just go to the preferences (either iTunes => preferences, or command ","), then go to the advanced tab and deselect Keep iTunes Media folder organized, and Copy files to iTunes Media folder.....
That way, you can prevent duplicate, and stop iTunes from rearranging your files.

If you imported your music into iTunes, iTunes has arranged it in the database structure that it requires. If you don't want iTunes to manage your music, don't import it into iTunes, because you don't have any control over the way iTunes organizes its files.

Actually, the steps to achieve it are:
1. Before you import ANYTHING, open iTunes and deselect the preferences W.M. posted about above me.
2. Then you can store your music anywhere and in any way you like, and iTunes will leave it alone and simply reference it without actually importing anything.

So basically I'd start over.
1. Make sure your originals still exist on the other computer, then delete the folders you transferred
2. Set the iTunes prefs to not mess with your music
3. Drag the music folders in from the other computer again
4. Drag the folders over the iTunes icon; since you changed the prefs they will no longer be altered
