Can I put an ibook G4 keyboard into an ibook G3? (Not the clamshell)

I have a friend with a malfunctioning ibook G3 keyboard and a new G4 keyboard replacement. Will this do? Or will it not sit right? We're just wondering because if it will fit the same way then we'd like to save on buying another keyboard. I haven't seen the keyboard yet otherwise I suppose I could just eye ball it but I thought I'd ask here and see what you guys think. 🙂 Thanks in advance for reading this post!

Stina,
Well like Ronda my first thought was this wouldn't work. Now I don't have a Dual USB G3 up and running but I do have a 1.33 Ghz G4 on my bench at the moment.
So I pulled out 2 clearly G3 iBook keyboards out of my stock. (I know it's the older one 'cause it smells like stinky feet. It also has the green ribbon connector.)
So putting both of those into the iBook G3 they worked fine. They did seem to have the problem w/ the ribbon connector that they have difficulty laying flat but it would seem to me if you're going the other way there should be no problem.
If that actually doesn't work I'd be willing to send you one of these as a direct swap.
Richard
