SAS vs. SATA in Mac Pro 3,1
Hi!
I need to upgrade my drives and noticed that Seagate offers sas version of their Contellation ( http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/enterprise-hard-drives/constellation-e s/ ) series.
My main work is photography (photoshop) and I do have loads of images from 500-900 MB.
When looking at the info in "about this Mac" there's shown sas, but no drive connected; which means I can run sas drives im my Mac Pro 3,1?
At the moment I do have 4 drives, all sata. 1 system, 2 and 3 data and 4 bootcamp for xp.
1. Would I be able to just replace my drives 1, 2 and 3 with sas drives and keep 4 as sata?
2. Would there be a noticeable speed improvement instead using sata drives?
3. Is sas using the same connectors as sata? So simply taking sata out and put sas in?
Any help is highly appreaciated.
Thanks in advance,
Matt
