4th-gen iPod Touch overheating

I ordered on launch day and received my iPod Touch on Sep 9th.

I'm having trouble holding the device after about 30-minutes of continuous use. This is our family's 4th iPod Touch, and none of the others have warmed up this quickly or gotten this hot.

Specifically, the back of the device, about 1-2cm above the Apple logo (when held in portrait orientation) gets hot to the touch.

Questions:
- Is anybody else experiencing this?
- Is this related to the A4 chip? Does it just run hotter than the previous chips?
- Should I take it into my local Apple store and have someone look at it?

Hi guys, I've noticed this the first day I got it.
It turns out, it only gets hot when it's on full brightness -- or high brightness.
and is in use for quite a while with facetime or on the camera.
I also noticed playing games on full or high brightness; - runs your battery out fast
- also makes the ipod overheat

the only reason for the 4G to "overheat" all the time
Is only because of it's new Camera feature.

But it's still such a beautiful device that is connected to so many Applications
that can just do anything!

Hope This Helped!

WATCH OUT GUYS!!!!

I had a ipod touch 4th gen 8gb, i got it for my birthday 😟

but then it started heating up alot on the top of it and not so much the bottom then,

EXACTLY what znz212 said then one day when i was using it the screen went off and it wouldnt go back on!!!!

a great birthday present that was... 😟

when it heats up u gotta standby it

i believe its when u overdo the processor when playing apps, (everytime it heats up too much it burns out the motherboard and the componants inside of it)

im just giving this info out to everyone so it dont happen to everyone elses ipod.

Hopefully one day apple will sort this out. maybe make a cooling case for it or something.

For me, like everyone else said, after like 5 mins... my ipod will go from 100%charged to like 10%left...

Also before like yesterday it was perfectly fine... I've had my ipod for about 6months now and i had it jailbroken for about 4 months and it never got this hot... Even though i jailbroke it, can i still exchange it or what do i do? My ipod is so hot that i cant even touch it anymore... and whenever i charge it it gets hot right away... please helppp~~~~ T^T

oh and btw... once in the middle of syncing my ipod just randomly sent me a notice saying...WARNING TURN OFF IPOD OR COOL DOWN BEFORE USE!!!!....with this little thingy⚠ish...

full brightness -- or high brightness. on the ipod touch causes it to heat up, i do a test with mine on full brightess playing a app for 5mins and the back of it was hot after 5 mins of it cooling down i put the brightess down to about 20%-25% and played the same game for the same time and there was no hot heat on the back, apple should put a small fan inside it to keep it cool or an warnning if putting the brightness above 50%
