Can the iPod 6th Gen. be completely turned off ?
There is a Sleep/Wake switch but NO On/Off switch.
How do you turn it completely?
Thanks

So did they reset it for you at the store? Resetting it won't effect any of the content you have on your nano. If so - Did it fix the problem?

Restoring to factory settings will wipe your nano - but then you can reload your content again...that will not take a lot of time.

Good luck.

I had done that, yes. I had tried resetting a few times to see if any of the settings had changed. This had no effect. Was still pausing the song when the screen went black. Restoring factory settings did not help either.

Took ipod into Newcastle store today and they replaced it as they couldn't fix it either. They hoped it may be a problem with the individual ipod as opposed to a glitch being introduced by the update. But it had been working fine for the few weeks before the update.

Short answer is YES.

To turn the Nano (6G) off completely, get the 1.1 firmware update (click on your iPod tab on the left side of itunes while the 6G is plugged in, and update from there).

After that it is simply a case of holding the Sleep/Wake button until it shuts off.

The currently playing music will be held in RAM for 5 minutes, but after that the iPod will completely shut down and upon holding the button again to turn it on, the apple logo will be displayed as the iPod starts up.

Hope this helps,

Mine seemed to lose power after I switched it off, I discovered that it was turning itself back on and thats why the battery died. The Sleep / wake button has now developed the problem where it is stuck in the down position. I am going to go to my nearest apple store and see if they will replace it under the warranty.

I have had a lot of Ipods and this is the 1st one that has given me problems.

Yes people, it does turn off. What you do is hold down both the - and + volume buttons and the sleep/wake button at the same time, after alittle bit a screen with options will come up. Using the up and down volume buttons, chose "standby" After it is on standby for alittle while, it shuts completely off, and you can tell this because when you turn it on again, the apple symbol shows up as if it is booting up. Not returning mine! 🙂
