new apple TV ship date

Well it's the 21st and still says 2-3 weeks. Sigh. Must be rounding up to two weeks

I ordered a 3rd one about a week after release. It says on my order page that it ships Oct 7th.

My order just says "Estimated Shipping: September"; which is nice and vague! Hopefully it'll come by the end of September... seems like we have been waiting an age :-P

I just called Apple to check on my shipdate and the Rep flatly denied any other ship dates beyond just September - I quote "I see orders all day long and haven't seen a single one that says anything other than 'September'.

Fishy *I think so* I didn't leave the call feeling satisfied, that's for sure (and I also happen to work in Support for a software company....

the long ship date is so apple wont get in trouble if it comes after september 30.

9to5mac is reporting apple has started charging credit cards. I presume they are ready to ship if they did that.

I just heard that apple has begun charging peoples credit cards for the apple tv, this means it should be shipping in the next day or two. Can anyone confirm??

Your card is never charged until the ship date, I ordered on the 1st, ship date is still "September", and my card has not been charged.
I ordered an iPod Touch the same day, it shipped on the 7th, bill my card on the 8th, and arrived on the 9th.
I would sure like to know when it will ship.

The card is not charged until shipped, but apple does do an initial credit lock on the card to ensure there is sufficient funds. Normally that lock drops in a few days.

Don't they usually become available at the Apple Store when they begin shipping the first units to pre-order customers? which means they should become available at Apple retail locations in the U.S., either today or this week? or my assumption is incorrect? I just called a couple of stores in NYC and they had no clue when they would be getting it.

My card was just charged so I'm guessing I will have my new Apple TV next week.:)

Just to add, I ordered mine on September 1st. My card was charged on September 1st and then a few days later the charge went away. But it's back this morning.

I ordered mine on Sept 7th, and I'm still seeing the shipping date as "September". I read that article on engadget.com this morning, but I don't see that my credit card has been charged. Anyone else noticing this?

I ordered on Sept 1st and no CC yet but still a Sept ship.
Think I'll get a free one? I know, I know....
