Logic 9 studio + Apogee duet Latency issue

I'm running Logic 9 (latest update) on an iMac 2,66 GHz intel core 2 duo with Snow leopard (latest update).

The thing is that I once in a while get this really strange latency while running logic with my apogee duet. It's not consistent, since it's not always the same.

It doesn't matter what buffer size is on at the time.

It's like a 0,5-1 sec latency, which, if I restart logic or change the buffersize back and forth a few times, disappears. The low latency button in logic does nothing.

My sound card is connected by firewire as follows:

Apogee Duet - WD mybook - Imac

/Niklas

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Hmm that's strange. Any ideas of why this might be the problem?
I've been told that "daisy-chaining" firewire is the way to go. Could I use some kind of a fire wire-hub instead?

I need to have both connected simultaneously since I'm recording onto the external drive.

I will unplug the WD and give it a try, but really, that's just solving a problem by creating another one...
