Apple TV Multi Room Speaker

Is there a way to have mounted speakers in a multi room application for the Apple TV. I have wired the entire house just trying to figure out how to get Apple TV designated for each room. Any ideas?

Hopefully I can clarify. I want to play music in different rooms of the house. So I have installed speakers in the ceiling and would like to operate them with my apple TV through a receiver. (Using my ipod touch as the means to communicate with Apple TV). It is important that each room operates independently of each other in case you would like to only have music in certain rooms.

I currently have an Apple TV in my Family room and one in my bedroom. When I open the remote application on my ipod touch. I can select a song and choose what room I want to play the song (My Family Room, My Bedroom , My computer or all rooms). The problem I have is that they all go through my TV's I would like it to go through my stereo. What I am trying to accomplish is very much like a Sonos system.

I have an Apple TV in the living room and an Airport Express in the bedroom. I can play music in the living room through Apple TV, or play it in the bedroom through the Airport Express (which is also connected to a stereo). I can control what song I want to hear, and which room to hear it in, with the remote app on the iPod Touch.

I have my Apple TV connected in two ways: first there is a HDMI out to the TV.

Then I also have an OPTICAL audio out going DIRECTLY to the receiver. This allows me to play music through my receiver without having to turn the TV on. However ,you need the remote app to see your music library instead of seeing it on your TV screen.

Hopefully this helps?

I use a Marantz Multi Room amp, which connects to my main home theater (which is connected via Air Tunes to iTunes). The Marantz is hard wired to 3 sets of speakers, 2 outdoors, and one in the living room ceiling. The speaker wires all run through the attic.

The Marantz allows each set of speakers to be operated independently - on or off, and different volumes.

Works great.

Other option which works well for me is a Niles Muti-room receiver. You can find older models for very cheap online. The only caveat: newer apple tvs have optical out ONLY and multi room recvrs need the analog signal. I haven't heard if anyone has had success with using a digital to analog converter with a second gen apple tv, but using a first gen apple tv works great. you can even hook the HDMI to a tv and the analog to the niles and control everything off the tv. Alternatively using the remote app works well, as long as it can connect to the apple tv.

I have a Devon receiver with 2 different zones (i.e., Zone 1 - downstairs; Zone 2) This is my configuration:
TV HDMI 1 to Denon Monitor HDMI port
Apple TV 2 HDMI to TV HDMI 3
Analog cable from TV audio out to "Dock" audio in on receiver
(choose this only bcs I won't be hooking up a dock to this receiver)

When I want to access music on my Apple TV 2, I set the input to HDMI 3
To access music in both zones, I must turn on "Dock" for both zones; or just the one zone I prefer.

Well i believe i have the system that you are kinda going for
Living Room: TV running through Samsung 40" TV with 5.1 home cinema System using Toslink Cable
Dining Room: AirPort Express running through Hi-fi System
Bedroom 1: TV Trough 26" tv with Cinema Sound Bar using Toslink Cable
Bedroom 2: TV Trough 23" tv with 2.1 Hifi System using Toslink Cable
Bedroom 3: TV Trough 23" tv
Kitchen: AirPort Express With Active 2.1 Speaker System

I Use my iPad to control every thing
I use my iMac if i wish to have the same music in every room using air play which I can level each volume though the iPad
Or i use each device individual to have different music/video playing which i can still control with my iPad

Hope this helps
