keyboard lights won't work

so i have a mid-2009 macbook pro: 13-inch, 2.26Ghz.

it was running 2GBs of RAM until this afternoon when i upgraded it myself to 3GBs with a 2GB stick.

i followed the instructions from apple to the absolute letter. however now, my keyboard lights aren't working. but it's funny... usually in direct light, the Fn keys that control the keyboard lights won't allow you to adjust the light, right? but they will for me, except there's no light to adjust.

i couldn't have done something, right?! i mean... i was was super careful and only handled the ram section, after which i blew off some dust and sealed it up again.

please help!

I'm 99% sure that it doesn't belong into that 😀

The cable clearly has 2 connectors on it altho the socket under has four .. While it can be that they are paired-down to two it really makes no sense electronically ..

If that is not the case however, you can end up short circuiting something if you ever boot the computer like that ..That's why I recommend not playing with it and seek professional assistance

🙂

SUCCESS!!!!!!

i fixed it!!!

i searched around, and found another thread by someone with the same problem:

http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9850431

the trick is, at the back of the tiny square is a teeny connector you have to pull up before sliding in the ribbon, and then click back down..

talk about a pain in the butt!!

bad design, if you ask me: advertise that removing and upgrading RAM is easy, and place a really brittle piece of hardware right beside it... ridiculous.

no matter! it's all good. i have more RAM, my keyboard works, and besides a few new scratches around the screw holes, i'm a happy camper.

thanks for your help again!

and i hope this thread helps other people in the future!!!
