Stuck sleep/wake button?

Hi, just bought the new iPod nano and the oddest thing has happened, the sleep/wake button is, well, stuck. If I push it I don't get a tactile response and my iPod won't wake up (worst part). Going to the genius bar on the 24th Sep to get it checked out. So if anyone experiences this issue, tell me.

My daughters 6th gen nano has not long come down with this problem. I have just checked through all of this thread and from what I can see Apple have not replied to one person regarding this problem. I find myself disgusted with the ignorance apple are showing to this product failing. My second generation iPod touch has been an exceptional product and is still going strong which is more than can be said for the battery life on my iPhone 4S! My daughter has had very little use of this and is understandably disappointed in this failing. 3 years of people reporting this fault and not one reply from Apple on their own forum, just shows how far their standards have dopped since the passing of Steve Jobs.

If you read the Terms of Use that you agreed to when you joined here you would know this is a user-to-user technical support site. Apple executives don't participate which is why you don't see a response from them. It was also this way when Mr. Jobs ran the company.

You can do an out-of-warranty replacement for $65/$75.

You sure you dont work for Apple as you sure do love their ignorance towards this fault! Thanks for pointing out yet again that I can pay $65-75 to have this problem resolved and even get a 90 day warranty for the privilege! I would rather chew my own arm off than throw Apple any more of my money. As an engineer I am fully able to fix the problem on my own but feel like so many on here that I shouldn't have to! Shame on Apple for their ignorance of this widely reported fault on one of their products! and shame on you Deggie for brown nosing Apple!

Only the moderators here are Apple employees. There also some specialists here that answer questions that don't get addressed for 24 hours. But no Apple employee here deals with company policy.

If you go back and read the archives there were also complaints about click wheels and lock buttons on older models that were just as long, or longer, than this one.

I've gave several of the 6th Gen Nano's as gifts and the people are still using them. I've only repaired one and it was owned by a 13 year old that was constantly hitting that button for various reasons. It is a moving part, it will wear out. Posts here do not show a "fault" with the product (although they did admit such a fault with the iPhone 5 which I took advantage of). If you do the out-of-warranty replacement and they later decide it is faulty they would refund your money. If you want to tell Apple you think it is a design fault then use the Contact Us link at the bottom right to contact the right person. Or call AppleCare, ask to be transferred to Customer Service and talk to them.

On the one Nano I replaced the switch on I used a 3rd party switch, not a recovered Apple part. I found it to be far superior (and more expensive although still much less than $65) than the Apple part. I'm not saying Apple's is defective, this one is just better like putting better larger brakes on your car. If you don't want to do it yourself send it to iResq, they use that part.

Not sure how pointing out to you the reason you didn't see a response from Apple execs and the terms of use, and stating the OOW price is "brown-nosing". You must be one of those people that quickly resorts to name-calling rather than intelligent discussion.
