Ipod Nano Touch doesn't turn off!

My new Nano touch does not turn off..nor does it stop playing even on pause. I've called Apple support and talked with sales reps. they all say, just keep it plugged in! How ridiculous! How about flying, traveling, etc. It wears down in the sleep mode after 24 hours! I've had a 2004 click wheel. Wanted to updat..never mind..if someone can't tell me how to turn it off (I've tried all types of experiments..believe me it doesn't turn off) I'm returning it!

I just purchased my nano touch last night and not even with resetting it by holding volume down plus sleep and trying to _turn it off works. Neither does going to settings>reset settings work. I held the sleep power button for extended periods of time. Press sleep/power while plugged into computer doesnt work to turn off.. Radio is always playing so I know its just in sleep mode so battery is draining. I had about 6 hours of play today and I gave it a full recharge and after about a half hour ejected from computer I can see battery power already dropping about 15%. Don't know whether to return it or not.

If you look in the online user guide on Apple's web site it says that the Nano continues to draw power even after being turned off. Basically this means that the sleep mode is the Nano's off state. This was backed up by most of the tech podcasts I listen to when they complained that there is no "OFF" switch. So no there is no way to completely turn it off.

Press and hold both volume control buttons and the sleep button together for several seconds until screen goes black then shows apple logo (continue holding down buttons entire time) After apple logo loads release buttons and a list of options will appear in yellow text. The first option will be standby, simply press sleep button and your Nano will not respond to touch or shake. To wake back up repress the sleep button!

I charge mine with my DLO Power bug and when the little icon changes to a small plug from the ligtning bolt it seems to hold a good charge for long periods of time.

Are you realy waiting till its fully charged? could take around 3 hours for a full charge to be reached, then it lasts a long time ive been listning now for like 2 hours and the bat meter did not even move yet.

Just an idea ... I found that an external charger seems a lot better then charging via computer. In fact sometimes if the unit is too low it will not even charge on a computer at all with a warning and it will need to be charged via a wall charger.

Thats what I found along with some vol lev bugs that I posted in another section hope this helps.
