BBC Radio Stations in iTunes

Widgets allow me to add any BBC radio station to my desktop, I can listen via the BBC website & iPlayer but is there any way to add some of these stations to iTunes and thus stream it around my house?

I've searched the forum and there are no results. I can't believe no-one has asked this before....

Thanks.

Tried again this morning (Mon 13th) and to my surprise, immediately got an HD connection here in France. I can only assume that the BBC have allocated/paid for very limited bandwidth and that only the lucky few will be able to connect. At least they don't seem to be operating the greasy pole system, where as new people get a connection the earlier ones are pushed down the pole until they finally fall off. I don't know if this is in the nature of an experiment by the BBC and they are only allocating limited bandwidth during the trial period. Alternatively the limited bandwidth could be as a result of falling budgets for digital services. After all, the Tristrams, who run the Beeb, still need their executive assistants, secretaries, chauffeur driven cars, relocation allowances (Surrey to Sussex!) etc, all of which have to be paid for before any money is spent on listener services. "Must get our priorities right" they would say.

Don't know if anybody is still reading this tread but it might be useful to know that by simply adding any of the following URLs as a stream in iTunes, you can listen to BBC radio from within this programme: http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/help/playing_radio_progs/real_wma_streams Mind you, you have to replace the .asx at the end by .pls for iTunes to be able to play it! ex. http://bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r3.asx => http://bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r3.pls Enjoy!

Very odd as BBC R4 used to be under News/Talk in Internet Radio. You can, course, listen to R4 via BBC's own iPlayer but it is not exactly very user friendly and if you are not in the UK, you often get degraded streams. It is typical of the BBC's parochiality and inward looking nature that increasingly they want to restrict their output to UK watchers/listeners only, irrespective of whether the people living overseas, pay a UK TV licence or not. They are going to great lengths to try and prevent UK nationals living either part or all of the year in mainland Europe from watching BBC satellite broadcasts. Not exactly a European outlook.
