Genius sidebar gone with update 10.0.1

Does anyone know how to enable the genius sidebar, as it has completely disappeared after the update and replaced by the Ping sidebar, which I don't find any use for?

imac, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

I have switch back to 10.0.0 again and Hello Genius sidebar - you have been missed. (Hint Apple)

CVMax you just go into your programs folder in the finder and drag Itunes to the trash. Then you download Itunes 10.0.0 from the link that Sekoya provided, thank you - and install it the normal way. Remember to run it the first time from the program folder. I have had no problems so far with the switch back.

And please Apple - reenable Genius sidebar in coming updates, Itunes have room for both, just make a little button, so you can switch between being in a shopping mood and social networking mood!

I tried that, trash and reinstall. The installer can't be started because the HD is "flagged" and a message comes up "...can't be installed. A newer version is already..." and this is after trashing the app. So there must be other files that need to be trashed as well to allow v10 to be installed....I also tried to copy the v10 app from backup but that results in a permission error....I might have to RTFM.....

Please please please turn back on the genius sidebar.
Ping is about as useful as a chocolate teaspoon as most of the music I buy is old classic rock where the bands have long ago disbanded. Genius may have had its critics but i found it useful in finding similar music or tracks i had not already bought. ok i can go 'show in itunes store' but this does not show me what i have not got or other suggestions like genius did.
What i find really annoying is Apple's habit of just pulling features without consultation with the users.

There aren't really any permission errors that cannot be worked around.
A) What kind of backup are we talking about?
B) How did you try to copy it from the backup?
C) Can you copy any application (out of a backup of your applications folder) to ,let's say, your desktop?
D) Can you copy the iTunes app to your Desktop?

Or just extract iTunes 10.0 with Pacifist from the installer.

Sekoya, I have a SuperDuper backup and can just drag the app to my application folder, or the desktop. The problem starts when I do copy the app into the app folder then I get the permission message. Not sure why because I am the Administrator. Any ideas are appreciated....Thanks.

Can you drag anything else (anything other than the iTunes.app) into your application folder?
Normally the most you should get is a prompt to enter your admin password. You can either temporarily change the permissions on the Applications folder (and change them back later) or copy the .app as a superuser (either via the Terminal or by launching the Finder as a superuser via Pseudo).

Okay, got it done, logged in and out and just copied the v10 app from backup. Back to normal. Thanks a lot.....

What an odd choice to disable a utility that encouraged me to listen to and buy music I don't have, and replace it with something that simply has me reading stuff about the people who make the music I already do have, assuming the artist is participating in Apple's facebook wanna-be program. Fail in functionality, business, and simple practicality. Reminds me of The Office a few years back, "I don't understand why a paper company needs to have social networking at all?"

Thanks for the how to on downgrading to 10.0.0, I will be doing so right now and will definitely make sure I carefully read the features on any future updates before deciding to download!
