Genius sidebar gone with update 10.0.1

Just sat down with a cup of tea to listen to some music and see what I might want to buy using the genius sidebar and to my shock it was gone!

After searching around the menus, I came here. I'm really disappointed. No purchases from iTunes today, all thanks to the stupid decision not to include the genius recommendations.

BRING BACK GENIUS SIDEBAR!!!

Gone through the same issue as everybody here...update and surprise ! No more genius recommendations available.

Spend my time reading and testing ( http://osxdaily.com/2010/09/25/disable-itunes-ping-buttons/) but no genius recommendations anymore.

So indeed, very disappointing, i'm not such a fan of social networking.

I hope Apple will come with a fix - at least leave the choice to the users.

totally agree.. this PING is horrible and a continuously vacuous flow of uninteresting information... the recommendation genius was perfect: trust me as recommendations engines on average create 5% to up to 10% in sales, I can predict safely Apple will put it back once they realize they could make more money.

Shall we launch a bet on when they are going to reinstate it? I would say January 31st at the latest!

PING is an uninteresting feature for people whose lives are far too empty and who don't understand that behind an artist comments and reply there is a PA in a PR firm posting mindless comments!

Dear Apple, How could you get rid of the Genius Sidebar? It was truly useful. I don't give a darn about tracking celebrities daily activities and other junk on Ping. I WANT RELEVANT MUSIC RECOMMENDATIONS!!!!!

GIVE US BACK THE GENIUS SIDEBAR!!!! That was a REALLY crappy executive decision to take it away. If you like Ping, fine, at least give us the option. I, for one, will NEVER use PING. It's a waste. You suck.

It looks as if the sidebar changed again. My one contains now a combination of Genius recommendations and Ping activities. The Genius recommendations change based on what song I select. That's pretty much the functionality of the former Genius sidebar. Nice! 🙂

What happened to my Ping sidebar? I never used the Genius one, but I actually liked the Ping one. It helped me keep in track with all my favourite bands. It now appears to be purely Genius and no Ping.

Slicecom you need to go to a Ping thread. This one is for people who like Genius and not Ping. And we win because Genius is back!! ...although I saw in another place that if you have signed up for Ping you can switch between the two views.
