Genius sidebar gone with update 10.0.1

Does anyone know how to enable the genius sidebar, as it has completely disappeared after the update and replaced by the Ping sidebar, which I don't find any use for?

I too am very disappointed that the Genius sidebar is gone. I emailed iTunes as well as submitted my feedback through Apple. I hope they have the sense to read this thread and see that their customers are not happy. Hopefully they give it back to us. I purchased many of my songs just from the Genius sidebar recommendations. If anything, they should at the least give their customers the choice of using the Ping or Genius sidebar. I for one have no desire for Ping and will not use it under any circumstance.

Apple...are you hearing us? We are your customers. We want the Genius sidebar back. Please and thank you.

Hi - I was quite tired last night, and my post may have come across as bit of a rant. I think the point I was trying to make is that Apple used to make really useful, functional, interactive hardware & software, but recently there seems to be a slavish pursuit of a 'whatever gets us a dollar' approach. Gone are many elements of choice, & a complete lack of 'up-frontness' about what an upgrade entails. Also, it really annoys me that I sometimes have to spend hours rolling back something that Apple have foisted on me, without any Apple option to just re-install the last version. Apple - I really really liked the Genius Bar, it made good, useful suggestions, and I could track gaps in my collection. I've now reverted to 10, and will not in future install any upgrades on trust; nor will I upgrade iTunes until Genius is restored. I have also posted this back to the feedback link given in a previous post.

Cheers & may The Force Be With You.

The all grey was driving me crazy...

...but the removal of the Genius sidebar sealed iTunes 10 fate, it's gone!

I Time Machine restored from backup.

Nothing in the entire purchasing history of my life has made me find and buy more new music than the Genius sidebar.

To remove that feature is to throw money away. I do not understand it.

One of the worst thing you've ever done ITunes programers, seems to me you don't care anymore about who you are working for. Genius sidebar was an excellent tool for finding and also sharing music, we don't need the Ping stuff at all. It don't work for anybody, it's like you want to make a facebook app just for ITunes and we don't need that at all. So bring back what we need. Or at least I won't symphatize with your application at all.

I have restored my genius sidebar back by downgrading.
Quite iTunes, trash it, download previous version from Apple and install 10.0.0

Here are the download links

Mac: http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/061-9183.20100902.X2ndX/iTunes10.dmg

Windows: http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/061-8246.20100901.Zxsew3/iTunesSetup.exe

Windows (64-bit): http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/061-8245.20100901.Pr4rg/iTunes64Setup.exe

hooray
and do not update to next version unless there is confirmation of Genius sidebar reinstated.
I have nothing against Ping, just want to keep the Genius recommendations. thats how I shop for new music. I love it. I depend on it.

I concur. I was purchasing about 85% of my music as Genius sidebar suggestions. Apparently Apple was making too much money. I've yet to pick a selection in my library that brings up anything under ping. Maybe it's my aversion to Brittany Spears and Lady Gaga. Oh well. Thanks Apple for saving me some money. Guess you're just looking to help with that whole recession thing.
