Daylight savings change and alarm issue

I noticed when daylight savings came in the phone had updated the time to an hour forward as it should. But this morning my alarm woke me an hour early at 5:15am instead of 6:15am. I checked the setting and it WAS set for 6:15am! Now yesterday I also updated from I think 4.0.1 to 4.1 so unsure if it was the daylight savings change or the update that has made my alarm change as this is the first working day since both.

So, any ideas or others with the same trouble?

I have been affected by the same problem, the alaram is set at 6:00 am but it goes off one hour later. I have a 3G phone and I live in London and I discovered that I was not the only one. I tried to rest the alram but with no avail. I Noticed that when the alarm is set to go off once, it works perfectly but when it is set on weekdays, it goes off one hour later! this means that I have to set the alarm at 5:00 am inorder to wake up at 6:00 am.

I'm glad (I think) that I'm not the only one with this problem. What I don't understand is why it did not show up until Tuesday? I deleted all alarms, and still going off an hour early after building them back. Powering off and on doesn't help. Obviously a software SNAFU.

I wonder; how long Apple will take to fix it? 4.2 is still pending and the same bug may be in it.

From what I'm hearing, the issue must be related to something a programmer did to try be clever and compensate for DST, but forgot that DST changes on different dates around the world (my guess: US programmer).

Predicting that this will "magically" fix itself this weekend when the USA DST ends, and we can then expect to see a communication from Apple claiming supernatural powers in fixing a problem without issuing a patch.

Of course, the really "clever" thing to do would be to use the time displayed by the device as the time the reference time for the alarm, as that is what most users expect from an alarm clock. Or is that just too simple?!

So to sum up (please correct me if I'm wrong):

Single (none repeating) alarms and 7 day repeating alarms work without a problem.
People who like to lie in at weekends have been effected because they have a weekday only repeating alarm. This has been worked around by setting the alarms one hour early.
When the USA changes their clocks this weekend, we will all be back to normal so we need to set an alarm (or stick a note on the fridge - it might be safer) to remind us to put our alarms back to normal before Monday. Otherwise they really will go off an hour early.

Did someone tell us we were setting the alarms incorrectly ? Incredible! It's also incredible Apple have sat on this without saying anything for weeks, knowing fine well it'll all be ok and forgotten about by next week.

Ok, this is getting me so angry,
I have iPhone 4 with OS 4.1 and my phone alarm keeps going off an hour LATE.
I applied the solution of deleting all alarms and then re-defining them and STILL the alarm goes off an hour later!
I bought this piece of junk 3 weeks ago and I am regretting it now. If Apple can't test and find such a stupid bug in their development process then what other random and primitive issues are going to happen in its lifetime?

And where is the fix? This happened in Australia a month ago and Apple don't think this is serious enough to release a fix RIGHT AWAY?

SHAME on Apple and SHAME ON ME for falling for this overpriced brick!

sergeantKK:
- you are right in your understanding of the workarounds
- the 'correction' this weekend is just an educated guess. No-one is able to confirm this yet.
- ... and so far Apple is trying to ignore the issue: they say that they have a fix ready, but it won't be released until the next scheduled OS upgrade (late November?)

I have been woken up 1 hour early for the past week. I called Apple this morning, and their response was, "we are very sorry for the inconvenience, this is a software bug that will work its self out on 11/7". So Basically Apple does not care about the customer to feel that this problem is worth their time or dollars to fix. I am thankful that my Iphone 3G is not under contract because I can't imagine being stuck with a product from this company for another year or two.
