iPhone 4 Home button issue...

I have tried to read on here and find out if anyone is having any home button issues but I can't seem to find anyone with the issue I am having. When I press my home button it works about 95% of the time. However, about 5-10 times a day it will not register the push at all and I have to push it again and it works. It's not something that really bothers me its just rather annoying. Anyone know anything about this? Also, has anyone noticed when you do push the home button it takes just a couple more seconds to close the app than the older iPhones? I have a 3G still and when I push the home button it instantly goes to the home page. Its just a little delayed with the IP4. I have compared it several times. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm wondering if its all just my phone because I haven't been able to compare my IP4 to anyone else's. I'm just wondering if all of this is any reason at all to get my phone replaced. I'm thinking it's not at all but I am just wondering who all else is having a problem or noticing a delay. I don't have any other issues with my phone. Just the home button. & if it helps any I have had my phone since day 1 of launch. I pre-ordered it.

Indeed! 🙂

I almost lost my mind once when I had to keep switching back and forth between apps to copy+paste some stuff... I was pressing Home like a maniac and with so much pressure that I thought I was gonna smash the sensor or whatever's under it.

Which makes me appreciate even more the fact that it's working so flawlessly now (it's a testimony of sorts to its durability at least!)

My friend bought his ip4 on the same day in the same store. High street store. 30 minutes drive. He replaced his and the home button works fine. Unfortunately, his screen looks "cooler", there is more blue. Weird, the difference is quite visible...

I've replaced my ip4 3 times, so this is my 4th ip4 and everytime it was a brand new device.

When I replaced my ip4 for the first time, it was about 1 month after I bought it. July, August '10 maybe. I replaced it because... I was loosing signal and because there was dirt underneath black glass near the home button. The home button itself was working fine. They wouldn't replace it because of the signal issue, but they did replace it, because of the dirt 😝

The second time I replaced my ip4, about 2.5 months ago, was because of the home button. The problem with the home button disappeared, but this time, I found a tiny piece of dust right in the middle of the screen, visible anywhere you go. Looked almost like a dead, black pixel. Then after about a month time, just before my warranty ran out I decided to replace it again 😝 They replaced it for another brand spanking new iPhone 4, but now... .... the two top corners of the screen have a slight backlight leakage :/ the corners look a little bit brighter, like it's not glued properly to the digitizer. Very annoying. My warranty exprired, so now I have to live with it. Every iPhone 4 is different :/ Home button allingment, some are deeper, some stick out, sharp... The same with the camera, some stick out, some are deeper. Volume and power buttons are loose ;/ and off course every iPhone features the "Death Grip Mode" 😝

horridly dissapointed i have to say!! i bought my new iphone4 yesterday and today i had to return it to the store (JB hifi) they wouldnt replace it as they said apple want to check them before replacing !! (how dumb) this means i now have to make an appointment at the apple store and make yet another trip before i get this sorted. I will be demanding a replacement phone and will make sure i give it a good going over before i leave the store so that i am not inconvenienced any further.

my question is for a company as big as apple - why do they continue to sell these dodgie handsets - why dont they re-call them and fix the issue !! instead of selling known faulty units to consumers and making them do all the hard work.

i got my iphone 4 back in october, came with 4.1 and was running fine until about a month ago. the issue is extremely temperamental. I finally updated to 4.3.5 last week in hopes that it was erradicate this problem, but unfortunately still persists.

i'm taking my phone to the genius bar 1st thing tomorrow morning. I'll only exchange it if they give me a brand new (in retail box) iP4. If not then i guess ill just stick it out and hopefully iOS 5 fixes this 😟

yeah i understand apple refurbs go through meticulous checks, i'm just that type of person that doesnt like refurbs.

The thing is, i'm ambivelant with replacing my ip4 b/c although this issue is a big niusance when it does occur, it is not enough reason for me to replace it w/ a refurb. If there were additional defects that accompanied this home button issue then that would warrant me to exachange my iphone regardless of refurb or new..

I'll keep you posted on how it goes tomorrow.
