DVD to .MP3 Converter

This is my first post because I have a dilemma. I am trying to find a way to convert my course DVDs for an online masters program into .mp3s for the rest of the class and instructor. I have the permission of the university. I just don't know how to do it. I have tried a couple of free programs and trials of programs but nothing is working.

I semi-frequently edit on Final Cut Pro, so I understand a bit about video technology, but I am only limited to that little bit.

I am willing to spend up to $50 on a program that works. Any ideas?

Hello, and welcome to the Forum.

I have done this with MPEG Streamclip, which is a great, free utility for working with all kinds of video. You will also need the Apple QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component ($20) if you do not already have it on your Mac. It is downloadable from the Apple Online Store.

With MPEG Streamclip you would open the DVD, then Export Audio, select an encoder (you will have to go with AIFF or AAC). You can convert the resulting audio to MP3 using iTunes or almost any sound editing app.
