Apple TV not finding my library.

I have just received my Apple TV and despite having connected it and my computer to home sharing, I can't access my iTunes library from it.

Please Help

I have the same problem here. iTunes 10.0.1 running on my Mac Pro OSX 10.6.4. I can see my Home Share on my Macbook Pro, but not on my Apple TV2. I've tried connecting ATV2 via wired and wireless and it doesn't see the share. All other features on the ATV2 work, just not home sharing

I've done everything this thread suggests! What now?!? My ATV2 has never seen my Home Share. To me this feature does not work. Has anyone gotten any helpful information out of Apple?

That's very interesting...........I wondered if it would work with a wired connection, but my TV is too far away from my computer to try it (and I'm not moving either of them).
It's odd that I have (on occasion) had this feature working (it's the main reason I bought the device), but just a 30 second sleep is sufficient to loose the connection again.

Come on Apple, sort it out.

Bob.

Hi all - I'm going to embarrass myself by letting you know that I mistook the iTunes version of 10.0 (67) to be greater that the 10.0.1 minimum required. I was suffering all of the symptoms posted i.e. I could play to the airplay speakers of the Apple TV and my TV but the ATV couldn't see my library. Once I did run the software update it found it first time.

I then removed all the firewall port accesses and the other "fixes" posted here and I can still see the library.

The only remaining issue is the one related to when either the ATV or the mac goes to sleep and it doesn't re-find the library when it wakes up.

Maybe my stupidity will actually help someone out there!

Regards

Robin

I'm also very frustrated by this problem. I've contacted Apple and read through multiple support forums with no luck on how to consistently fix this problem.

One thing I noticed this morning was according to my Mac, my TC router's address is 10.0.1.2. But on my ATV2 is says my router's address is 10.0.1.1. Could this be the problem? Do they both need to be the same IP address? If so, any recommendations on how to change it?

FYI, according to my ATV2 my ATV2's address is DHCP 10.0.1.5 and my DNS address is 10.0.1.1.

OK - heres what I've found out so far.
I've got an ATV2 works fine.
My mate then got one and I set it up for him but I couldn't get Home Sharing or iTunes to log in no YouTube content either - but he can preview movies. We thought it must be a duff ATV2, but I tried it at my house and it connects to everything fine both iTunes store and Home Sharing.
So its not the ATV2 itself.
His router and the firmware on it are pretty old, so he's updating the firmware at the moment.
I'll see what happens next.

My Apple TV keeps dropping the library after a few hours. Software on Mac Mini is current, no firewall, strong signal, iPhoto & Home Sharing enabled. However, if I go and log out iTunes from the MobileMe account, then log back in again and enable Home Sharing it will work again. Odd thing is, when it fails to find the Library or sees it and I get the spinning wheel of death, if I go to screensaver and active it, it will find the iPhoto Library.

I have the same issue, you click done and Home Sharing just stops.

Also tried this on my PC at work with the same results.

Never been a fan of apple but caved when I was given my iPhone and started playing with it.

As for the ATV2, very very disappointed. I would have expected alot more functionallity out of the box with it. Hopefully Apple will get cracking on this and produce an update that lets you use the system to it's potential???

or purhaps it's back to a mini PC with media centre......

Home sharing seems to work fine for me if only the ATV2 is asleep, but my Mac is awake. My problem seems to be that if both my computer and ATV2 are asleep, ATV2 can't wake my Mac (even though I have all the hardware and software for it to work). Are people having problems with the Wake For Network Access?

Yesterday, we momentarily lost power in my house and when it came back on my Mac had an error message: Another device is using the same IP address as your computer." Could this be the home sharing/wake for network access issue? How do I stop my Mac and ATV2 from using the same IP address?
