Does the new Apple TV support VPN?

I have not read about it supporting VPN in any review, but since it's an IOS I am hopeful it might? If you have bought one and it's delivered can you tell me what are the network connection options and is VPN support available?

Thanks!

13" Unibody Mackbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

You cant setup vpn directly on apple tv. You need to setup vpn on router connected to apple tv or using airplay. Setting up your Apple TV VPN without a router is not only easier but faster. Thanks to Apple embedding the AirPlay Mirror option in their iOS and Mac OSx devices. To setup your VPN for Apple TV without the router, here is what to do:

  1. Install the Apple TV VPN app for your device i.e. iOS (iPad, iPhone, iPod)or Mac OSx (Mac desktop,MacBook)
  2. Connect your VPN to the region you wish to unblock apps from e.g. US server for Netflix & HBO or UK Server for BBC iPlayer
  3. Make sure both your device and the Apple TV are connected to the same WI-FI network
  4. In case of iOS devices make sure you have the relevant streaming apps on your device rather than installing them on the Apple TV
  5. Turn on your AirPlay feature by going to your Apple TV Settings>AirPlay>ON
  6. Once the VPN is connected:

Mac OSx users should simply logon to the websites they wish to stream, then click the AirPlay icon in the Menu Bar

  7. iOS users should swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the Control Center, then tap AirPlay. Launch the app you want to mirror e.g. Netflix
  8. You should now be able to see your screen mirrored on the TV screen.
