Apple TV G2 and Multiple iTunes Accounts

In our household we have multiple iTunes accounts so that everybody can purchase and download their own content for the various computers and devices that we own.

In the old Apple TV each persons iTunes account could be setup to allow streaming from their computer ( while only one could be setup for syncing and purchasing )

In the new Apple TV it would appear that you can only setup Home Sharing to a single iTunes account and that there is no way to see the other iTunes accounts on our network.

Is there something I am missing here? How can we stream content from more then one iTunes account to the new Apple TV.

Strangely, AppleTV1 could.

I have to admit, I have the same gripe of the new Apple TV in regards to being able to allow the remotes of guests to be able to control my Apple TV. Fortunately this issue can be addressed via software so I'm willing to be patient for an update!

You can always use AirPlay from other libraries/computers/devices connected to the same network...

yes - i demoed this yesterday and it worked beautifully!

I absolutely cannot wait for Keynote to work over AirPlay - projectors, laptops, cables, dongles be gone!! 😉

Absolutely not true. I have several friends with Apple TV Gen2s. When I visit their house the airplay icon on my iPhone allows me to show movies and photos right on their AppleTV2 with no configuration whatsoever. The only prerequisite is to be on the same wireless network with their AppleTV.

Thanks so much for your post! Just bought Apple TV and was so disappointed that my wife and I couldn't home share both our libraries. Fortunately past experience told me to take heart and not assume Apple screwed up. Sure enough your post shined a light. Thanks again.

Thanks for these instructions! I tried at my parent's house and it worked like a charm. Now we can watch movies from my MacBook on their Apple TV. Many thanks!

I, too, have the same issue. I was using a WD Live Hub (Excellent Device). Unfortunately, we had a lighting strike and it was fried. I decided to try Apple TV $99 rather than buy another WD $299. I guess you get what you pay for...

The WD Live hub allowed anyone on the network to send movies (Almost any format) and play them on your TV, plus it acted like a shared Drive to allow others to grab and/or watch them also from their computers.

Apple "Get in the Game" here please. Don't let WD put you to shame.
