Netflix Audio/Video Out of Sync

My new AppleTV arrived today (yay!) and I quickly set-up and configured it. While generally impressed I'm observing that the audio and video for Netflix streaming are not synching up properly. I've got the ATV hardwired to my network and am not connecting via wireless.

I have both the HDMI and optical cables plugged in I've tried audio over both interfaces and with the ATV setting for "Digital Out" set to on and off and all variations have the same synch issue.

I've tested the same show with the Netflix app on my iPhone (over wifi) and using the OSX Silverlight player (hardwired) which both synch the audio/video properly.

Anyone else experiencing this? Did you find a solution?

Exactly what we are seeing with the same Disney shows, especially Hannah. I don't know how my kids can stand to watch it (I can't stand it even when the sound is in sync). I have tried starting and stopping and moving back/forth in the episode and that doesn't fix it. I haven't tried restarting the ATV like I do for the 112 error but I will try that next. I haven't seen the problem with iTunes rentals or with other Netflix content. This is for the audio being played by the TV through the HDMI connection. I haven't checked to see if the optical out to my amplifier does any better when this happens.
Annoying.

I am having the same issue with Netflix. If I stream anything in the Stargate universe series, it's out of sync. If I stream it on my TiVo, Wii, or PS3 it's fine. I am using a wired ethernet connection straight to an Apple Airport Extreme router. I have restored the Apple TV to new and stared over but that didn't help. I tried a different HDMI cable too, that didn't help either. I even tried unplugging it over night but it's still doing it. This is clearly an Apple TV issue.

I have had this problem too. PS3 streams immediately with high quality, as does the iPad, and the Netflix app in my TV. On my Apple TV the audio is always falling out of sync with the video. It is very very annoying. I can usually correct it by backing up the video a little, but not always. Since this is one of the main uses I have for AppleTV, I am starting to feel like I wasted my money 😟

I keep waiting for a fix, but it has been a _long_ time. Apple????

just power down the apple tv by holding the center button on the remote, then power back on by pressing any button on the remote.

Find your movie or tv show that was out of sync and press play. Choose resum or start from beginning.

violah - your audio is sync again!

Note: on Apple TV when pausing a netflix movie, rewinding, and/or fast forwarding - you may experience sync issue again ... Unfortunately, it's a coin toss.....

BEST SOLUTION: consider jail breaking your apple tv and enjoy xbmc.

Just to add.

Out of sync Netflix with appletv2. Roku plugged into same hdmi port, no audio sync problems.

As a reference you can use Statgate Universe. Season1 Episode 6.

Episode 1-5 played on my apple tv fine. But once at 6 out of sync audio.

so the difference is how the file is read by the player. Or At the studio encoded.

I have the same problem. I found a couple of things out today.

1. This problem does not seem to be happening on TVs that are 720p. I know this, because I have a 720p tv in my bedroom and all the shows and movies work great. Most of the time. I have had issues with MadMen a couple of times, but only on one episode in the 4th season.

2. It seems to be only the HD shows and movies that are affected, but not all of them.

I tried Michael Allbitton's suggestions and I watched SGU successfully, however, when I tried to watch Walking Dead series, I failed miserably.

I also tried to watch How The Universe Works and Steven Hawking's Universe. When I tried the latter two, at first, I had no sound. I power cycled my tv and lo and behold, I had sound. I did try it on WD and Caprica and some HD movies as well and it was not successful.

I have tried new HDMI cables and had my ATV replaced yesterday, to determine where the problem lies. It's NETFLIX. Though I doubt they will ever admit, that it's their issue, I firmly believe this is the case. THey need to at least address that it "could" be an issue and try to troubleshoot the problem, rather than just pawn it off on Apple and say there's no way it could be them.

I hope they fix it soon or another company finds a solution. I would gladly switch to a service that works, than deal with this for the next however many years to come.

If I discover a solution, I will gladly post it here in the future.
