HDMI Handshake problems every 20 - 30 minutes - Color Inversion Issue

I'm having the exact same problem with my brand new UK Apple TV 2nd generation hooked up to a Sony KDL-37P3600. From what I know it clearly is a handshake problem between the 2 devices!
I've had the 1st Apple TV since it came out and never had a single problem 😟

I'm using both Ethernet and Optical Audio if it helps to diagnose...

So it's clearly not just Germany, not just Philips, it happens with or without optical Audio, no one has cured the problem by swapping a lead, and no one has seen this effect from any other source but Apple TV rev 2.

Clearly in your camp Apple, the evidence seems conclusive.

It would be really nice to get an acknowledgement that there is a problem, and that you are working on it.

My Apple TV arrived yesterday. I had read about this issue before - and BINGO! - I have the same problem.

Latest TV Firmware: Q5481-0.26.75.0

This is really annoying.

Same issue here with a Philips 37PFL9604. Apple took the ATV2 back and sent me a new one.
But the Same Problem. Updated the latest firmware - nothing changed.

Not a german problem. happening everywhere, just germany got ATV2 first.

this is STUPID! and no one at Apple support knows anything. all my devices are HDCP compatible and my ATV1 worked fine! this is issue with ATV2.

i also checked software update on the ATV2 and it says that i have the latest version. also for some reason the pictures that connect via Home Sharing from my iPhoto on the Mac really suck!

let's just admit it, ATV2 is a lousy implementation. I am going back to my ATV1

If everyone simply returns their ATV2, maybe Apple will get it fixed

I have the same problem with my new ATV2 and my Phillips 47 inch TV.
Did not have this problem with my old ATV.

Same problem. AppleTV2 goes pink/inverted after about 20 to 30 minutes. Switching HDMI sources returns the picture to normal. London UK.

I haven't logged a call with Apple as I assume this issue will be resolved through a firmware update. Like others I don't have this HDMI problem with any of my other devices.

this happens to my twin brothers tv too. its a philips 46pfl9704 or somthing. its a led pro tv. on my 2 year old panasonic plasma it works fine

Seems to kick in after about an hour, and then every 20 minutes. Pausing film, pulling hdmi cable out and refitting does the trick as a temporary fix.

Tried changing cable - no better.

Has anybody had any luck with a replacement unit?

I've got a Sony Bravia, but it works with that o.k. It's the Homeshare that I'm having issues with.

What model is your Bravia?

Its a KDL26 EX302U, only a couple of months old.

try just switch hdmi channels;)

I have tried the cable in different sockets, and there is no difference. Is the hdmi channel a setting on the tv, as I cannot see anything on the apple tv for this.

This is interesting. I have two Apple TV's both connected to Sony Bravias. All equipment is brand new.

One is connected to a 40EX403 and has had no problems at all.

The other is connected to a 22EX302 and does have this problem.

I have changed the HDMI cable and done a reset, which I'm not expecting to help, based on comments here. I'm just testing it now though.

Assuming the problem is still there, I will switch units and see where the problem ends up. I have a small irrational fear that doing this will somehow make them both suffer from it, but I think it needs testing to try to narrow down the cause. I'll report back later.
