HDMI Handshake problems every 20 - 30 minutes - Color Inversion Issue

Dear all,

I used the old ATV for a long time and never had problems with it. Yesterday my new ATV 2 arrived. The setup was very easy but after a few minutes a problem with HDMI Handshake occurred and repeats at least every 20-30 minutes:

I get a green screen for one or two seconds and then the picture appears again with some kind of inverted colors.

I use a Philips 40 inch 7664 LED LCD with the newest firmware installed.

Any idea what I could to to fix this issue?

A Firmware Update for the affected Philips TVs does not solve this problem. I and others too have installed all updates (even before the ATV2 was released) and the problem with HDMI Handshake is there.

I have to agree, my Firmware ( for Philips 42PFL9664) is up to date, that can't be the solution. I can perfectly understand, that sh** like that happens, but there is no doubt that it's up to Apple to solve this problem.
Mr Jobs and folks, we wait for a proper reply.

Unfortunately they will never acknowledge that they have ever heard of the problem before.
Your instance will be the first they ever heard of it.
And tech support has never heard of it before.
This is Apple’s way.

That made me laugh!
That is exactly the impression I have every time I've rang Apple Support over the years.......they make you feel like you're the only one to have that problem, so it makes you almost feel like it's your fault (apart from the thousands of people on the discussion forums).
It would be far better, and I would have more respect for them (and the product) if they said "yes, it's a known problem, and we're working on a fix"........job done!

That's Not true. At least in this case Apple contacted a lot of us who posted in this thread abd asketfor more information about this issue. So there is a chance they'll fix it with the next firmware update. But we'll see. Let's hope 😉

I got this HDMI issue on both of my AppleTV. Changed different HDMI cables.

Come on Apple, don't think I see it like a hobby, too!

Same here (if anyone wants to know this). I have a German ATV (in Holland we can not buy them yet).

Philips 8404
ATV2 only HDMI
tried different cables ports etc. Not the splitter yet.

ATV1 worked for 3 years without any problem on the same TV.

Same issue here with a Philips 37PFL9604. Apple is taking the ATV2 back and sending me a new one. Why? Doesn't make sense to exchange to another model with same error. Will cancel exchange and ask for a refund. Once fixed I can buy again.

Suggest Apple and Philips educate themselves here, get on a table and fix this:

Same problem here. I have a 55" LED *Samsung UE55C6005*. Both the TV and HDMI cable is brand new. And the same cable works flawlessly with the PS3.

Other devices working perfectly:-
Humax fox sat hdr
Sky HD
Apple tv 1
Pana DVD recorder

Change channel fixes problem. Sometime fixes itself.
Time in between occurrence appears random

Same problem: Philips 46 PFL 9704, other devices work without problems. After 20 to 30 minutes the screen "inverts". Tried other HDMI cables: no solution, obviously an Apple problem !

Same issue with a atv2 I've bought in France with a Philips 32" 8404... tried different cables, different sockets, updated the TV firmware too. still from time to time the colours invert... this goes away if I change channel. really, really annoying

I also have this problem - I'm from the UK and using a Sony Bravia LCD. I'm also using an HDMI cable that I've been using for our blu ray player - and it's been fine on that!
