DVD Player and Widescreen
How can I make DVD Player play home recorded DVDs in widescreen format?
I record my favourite comedy programme on a HDD recorder, then put the recorded programmes onto DVD using the HDD recorder. My TV, HDD recorder and the programme are all in widescreen.
However, when I play the DVD disc on my iMac or iBook, DVD Player does not playback in widescreen, but the old TV ratio of 4:3. Even if I set DVD Player to play in widescreen using Video Zoom, it still produces a playback of the old TV ratio 4:3.
When I play a film from a commercial DVD, DVD Player automatically plays the film in widescreen.
When I play my home made DVD on a Windows or Linux system, I can set the player to widescreen and it plays in widescreen without any problems. This is done by selecting the correct aspect ratio from the menu system.
Why is there no way to set aspect ratio (apart from video zoom) in DVD Player? Is this something that Apple forgot about?
