Volume Jump issue

Hooray, I figured out how to post a question, haha.

I love my new nano, but there is a small bug in the software that is starting to bug me. Basically, the volume hikes up an insane amount (especially noticeable when using headphones) when randomly hitting the next track button. It's not a difference in volume level in the actual song, as I can press forward and then previous track and then it's an acceptable sound level again. the volume indicator is not affected, naturally my reaction when music is blaring in my ears is to turn it down, and it usually ends up below half way. press forward and reverse track to go back to the same song and I'm turning it back up to about 7/8ths of the way to full.

This usually seems to happen when I seek through quite a few songs in a short amount of time.

Just putting that out there, in hopes of a software update fix. Thanks

I'm glad that soundcheck solved your problem. Mine still makes quick millisecond louder or softer blips when going to the next song. I wonder if this is just a quick sample of what I would be experiencing with sound check turned off. (ie the volume differences between songs....say a soft classical guitar piece and a loud electronic or dance track). I did read in the online 6th gen nano users manual that you need to have soundcheck turned on in iTunes preferences for it to work optimally on the nano. I did this but did not really notice w difference.

For the songs that jump in volume, right click them in iTunes, then go to "Info" and then select "options". You will see a volume adjustment slider. If it is in the middle, it is set correctly. If it is slid all the way to the right, then it is set to increase the volume when the track is played by +100%.

If you are not sure which tracks are changed in this way and which ones are not, just select all your tracks. Then right click and select "Get Info". Then go to the "Options" tab and you can do this volume correction for all your tracks at once. Remember, the right setting is for the slider to be in the middle, at zero.

most comment here have been about sound jumping up. I'm having a slightly different issue. When I listen to a play list (or even the radio, thats why I dont think its a pre-setting with a particular song) the sound drops to 0. I then take the nano and increase the sound by hitting the plus sign. I can get it up half way, and right before my eyes the sound drops back to 0. It's driving me crazy. It usually happens after 30 minutes of use. Has anyone gotten through that problem?

I tried rebooting the nano, and then it might work for a day or two, but then I'm back to having the volume drop to 0 all over again. Please help 🙂

I have the same dam problem and in my opin this has nothing to do with songs at dif levels its a bug heres what happens you take the unit out of sleep and then have a song playing already then hit the next and it may bounce up to near full volume for no reason what so ever I consider that a glitch and a bug that must be fixed ASAP
as this is important as it can realy be defining all of a sudden ...

So I do hope i explaned the problem correctly let me repeat does not mader what lev the songs are recorded at or transfered at it will just slam the volume up for no reasion when switching a track, not good at all.

I hope others can duplicate this problem It has happen to me 4 times allready, must be fixed.
