iPhone 4 without Data plan.

Hi,
Canadian here.
I am interested in purchasing the iPhone4 outright from an applestore (unlocked/750 dollars)

I currently have a standard phone plan with calling, text, voicemail but no data.

What I was wondering, is will my current carrier (rogers) be able to put my standard phone plan onto a micro sim so I can use the iPhone4 without data. I only want the phone for calling and text and do not need email or 3G internet. I know with a 3gs you can just put your sim in the phone and use the standard phone plan no problem but will rogers be willing to put a standard plan onto this new type of sim or will they be fussy and say that microsims only work for data plans?

Help please!! I don't want to buy the phone and find out after that i cant use it unless im paying 80+ dollars a month for unneeded data

I've been looking into getting this for my iPhone 3GS. The Telus site makes it sound like it won't work for 3g phones, will it? Also, does the unlimited picture and video messaging also work with the iPhone? Thanks 😀

Yes, you can have a standard phone plan on your contract free iPhone 4. Its your phone, you can use it the way you want.

I was with Rogers, now with Bell as I've got better deal. Just buy a micro sim for $2.00. Some retailers provide it for free. Ask them to activate monthly voice plan on it which is $30.00 I think.

if you are going with Rogers, you can still access data. You can buy daily ($2.00), weekly ($7.00 or monthly ($15.00) data pass. Use on as needed basis. That is exactly what I did. It is when you open your browser without data plan, it takes you to Roger's passes screen to buy. Bell doesn't have such option.

Does Rogers still have a monthly data pass option for $15? On the site all I see is a weekly and a daily pass. I can't open my browser to check because I got Rogers to block all data services.

I unblocked the data, so my iPhone now has the 3G symbol. When I tryed to boot up the browser Rogers texted me to visit a site for options. I clicked the link, but it won't load in the browser. Safari just keeps popping up saying Cannot Open Page. What's up with this?? I can't even access the page to add a data pass..

Why would you want a smart phone only to dumb it down? If you want a dumb phone then there are a lot cheaper alternatives.

Possibly, different province, different regulations. But can't say for sure. Maybe not all plans have this feature available. This is something that is not published anywhere but I used their services for the past 4 years. It worked for me. See if you could find any other rogers customer in your area with voice plan only and try?
