New wireless router - how do I access my time capsule?

Hi,

I've had to buy a new wireless router as the last one stopped connecting to the internet. I've set up the new router fine but can't find how to access my time capsule now - can anyone please help?

When I originally setup the time capsule I had it configured to become part of the (then) existing wireless network.

you will have to reconfigure the TC for operation with the new router.

launch *airport utility* (in applications/utility) and enter +manual setup* for the TC. click on continue and follow onscreen instruction. when prompted select to join the network created by your new router.

I've entered airport utility but my TC is not listed and the manual setup button and menu option is grayed out. Do I need to do something on the TC so it can be seen by the new network?

Try running an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports of the TC to your Mac. That should help AU see the TC.

I have the same situation. Even with an ethernet cable, the TC is not showing up in the list. Instruction manual suggests restoring to factory settings with a five-second resent button press. If I do that, do I lose all the backups on the TC?

James,

Depending on how you have the TC configured, the ethernet connection may not be enabled. Can you provide some more details about how you have the device connected on your network please? Remember, we can't see your computer or your equipment, so although things may seem obvious to you there, we really only know as much as you can tell us.

If it is necessary to perform a "hard reset" on the TC to re-configure it, this will not affect your backups.
