I am so OVER this voice memo b@#$s@#T saga! Can one thing actually work on this stupid phone. I'm so sick of the constant intermitent & ever changing issues/problems that I'm ready to join everyone else & switch to android. so over it!! It just isn't worth the heartache anymore. none of these solutions have made any difference & whats even more hilarious is that not only do my voice memo's not appear in itunes anywhere...but even the file that stores them on my drive is incomplete. ...how is this even possible when i can see them on my phone?

How is it possible that each problem encountered on these stupid phones has 10 different errors or ways that it behaves for the same problem? Not even the errors are consistent. How does the user even begin to troubleshoot something like that? one day it works, the next day it half works, the next day it wipes everything, then it sync's one file, then it half works again, then it deletes itself altogether. ***?

Lift your game Apple.....this isn't good enough!!!! We're all sick of your half-@ssed products! 😠 😠 😠

Dear all,

I don't understand why Apple do not just solve such problems with its Voice Recorder.

Apple need to understand that Voice Memo is an app that is important for some of us.

The idea to mix Music and Audio Memos is awkward.

Indeed, the difficulties to sync seem errors: we need to sync, re-synce, connect, disconnect, reorganized Library, mix voice memos with musics, It's strange and difficult.

The solution I'm trying now is third-party app: Adui Memos, FourTrack, and Super Note, in such order.

I have tried every solution listed in this topic - unfortunately none of them worked 😟 I have a 46 minute voice memo of an interview which I needed to transfer to my computer. In the end, I found this software, PhoneView, which offers a free 7-day trial (no credit card needed or anything) and lets you transfer up to 10 voice memos. There doesn't seem to be a size limit because my 46min voice memo (20MB in size) transferred instantly. http://downloads.ecamm.com/PhoneView.zip

Not really a long term solution, but if, like me, you are desperate to get one big file to your Mac quickly, then this is perfect.

On my ipod which is running ios 6.1.5, you go to "voice memos" and then select the blue circle with the white greather than sign for the voice memo you would like to trim. You then click on "Trim Memo".

On my iphone which is running ios7.0.4, you select the memo and then the blue rectangle with arrows to trim the memo.

Hope this helps!

In the old (logical) way, you had Memo’s in a MEMO Folder and the Music was by itself in iTunes. Now they have Memo’s in a Playlist and mixed in with your music in iTunes for only God knows why and no accessible MEMO Folder. Even under iTunes you can't 'Copy' or 'Save' them off to a folder on the hard drive. What a screwed-up thing, who's big idea was that. Fire them!

By the way; tried the advice to 'Un-sync restart Re-sync, I get new memo's but no older memo's appear. Really screwed...

Jobs hasn’t checked-out that long ago and the company is already going down the toilet.

See what other gifts iOS5 / iTunes 10.5 has given us.

Apple doesn't read these, but they obviously should troll them and be ashamed.

I'm sure they can't have missed this 2 years and counting. Where's the tech press hounding them with outrage over this half-baked app?! Easy and "just works" MY ***! Shame on them for letting this PoS get by without even any basic QA or testing all these years. Maybe if Google made a !@#%^&* voice recorder app they'd give a darn?!?!

Anyway, commiseration aside, give them heck directly:

No, it ISN'T WHAT IT IS. Apple charges a premium and we gladly pay it for things that *JUST WORK*, intuitively. This ridiculous, steaming pile of nonsense has been festering for **OVER 2 years** at least. WHO THE !@%^&*( tests this !@%^&* at Apple? This is the nonsense you expect from a Windows box, not an iOS device!!!

It should work, PERIOD. Any of you happy with some half-baked workarounds should be JUST AS MAD AS HECK!

Send feedback and maybe the dingbats at Apple who made this app (probably long gone, which is why this app is such broken trash, but either way, Apple should be ASHAMED!):

NO EXCUSES!

Yeah the work around is no fun, but it works if you can follow directions for 95% of users.

Earlier I presented this workaround to get VMs into iTunes: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2607144?answerId=20228863022#20228863022

I will make it simplier to understand:

1) create VM on device using the voice memo app...name it if desired.

2) Synch device to iTunes (The VM will be transferred to your PC if you synch with the corrrect settings).

3) Find new VM in iTunes on PC under "Music" on the playlist "Voice Memos" -- note this is AAC version and will be unavailabe as is in the Music app on your device. This is where the AAC version for the VM app saves the file.

4) Right click on each VM and choose "Create MP3 Version" (it will convert the file).

5) Navigate in iTunes "Albums" (or Songs, Artists, etc) within the "Music" option. Look for an album called "Voice Memos", click on it once -- you should see 2 versions of each VM that you converted to MP3 (the MP3 and AAC duplicate version).

6) Right click on each VM and choose "Get Info". Look at the summary tab to determine if the kind of file is MP3 (MPEG) or AAC. Delete the AAC duplicate VM (to the recycle bin). Rename the MP3 file if you desire.

7) Create a new playlist (the old playlist will not be available for MP3 files). In iTunes 11.0 this can be done by clicking on the plus sign at the very bottom left of iTunes and choosing "New Playlist", click done.

8) Go back to Albums, Songs or Artists folder (multiple ways to do this) and find the MP3 VM that you converted. Right click on it and choose add to playlist (choosing the new one you created for VMs).

9) Finally synch your device with iTunes to receive the VM. If you don't synch your entire iTunes with your device (iphone, ipad), you will need to find your device in iTunes and manually select the new playlist that you created in iTunes and re-synch to your device. Find it now under playlists in the Music app on your device.

I've tried this muliple times and it works. Yeah it's a burden work around, but it WORKS..if you can follow these directions.

Good luck

Everyone should be drowning Apple in feedback about this - go do so if you have not, or do it again if it's been a while:

There's NO EXCUSE for the delay on getting this fixed somehow and they haven't done ONE **** THING in YEARS with this ridiculous situation. Apparently, they even let this issue slide right on into iOS 7, which is already at 7.0.2 due to other more serious issues.

Apple quality is really sliding. Anyone with a Mac on Mt. Lion notice their sloppy update revealed the mach_kernel file (have to set it back to hidden with Terminal for them)? How about checking for updates as a Standard user and the Mac App Store saying "No updates available", but then you login with an admin user and there they all are?!

This Voice Recorder issue was the canary in Apple's QA coal mine. Are they hiring old Microsoft QA staff from the 90's or what?! Johnny Ives could care less as long as it's pretty and shiny, while Cook is too busy counting inventory. What gives with them these days?!

Ridiculous.
