wireless printing HELP!!

HELP! i have just bought my first apple laptop for work and other than the issue that i am having with the wireless printing, it is great! This is my first time posting a question so i thought id give it a go before i ring up apple care/support. I have got the internet working perfect on the laptop but my issue is that i cannot print wirelessly. I have a samsung CLX-216x series printer; We were able to print wirelessly with our pc's but now came to a red light with our new lappy's. Please can someone give me a step by step resolution to this problem so that i am able to print off my work files. PLLLEEASSEE!

well i did everything that your link advised me on but i used the smd:// 10.0.0.2/clx2160 in that field. Although i went into word and typed a test page and the printer icon appeared; all seems well at this point but then i have a little circled 1' next to it... clicked on the icon and it said it was printing in the status bar but "printer ready" on the face of the page. any suggestions, seems we're nearly there

For the syntax of smb://10.0.0.2/clx2160, assuming the IP address of the PC sharing the connection is definitely correct, then ensure the share name is definitely set to clx2160 on the PC. If the share name is different on the PC to what you have set on the Mac, then this would cause the spool file to stay in the Mac.

As mentioned by Mick, you also may need to look at an alternate printer driver, as some vendor drivers only work with direct USB connections. Gutenprint is often the preferred as it is free and v5.2.3 is included with Snow Leopard. However your model is not listed as a supported model (only the ML series are supported) and given your CLX model uses a Samsung proprietary printer language, then it is possible that the Gutenprint drivers are not going to work, as they did for Mick with his Canon inkjet. So you could try selecting one of the 'Samsung - Gutenprint ML' models in the Print Using menu to see if this manages to get the spool file from the Mac to the PC. If the job does leave the Mac but still fails to print then it would suggest the driver is not compatible. In that case you could look at using the [pxlmomo package|http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/maco sx/pxlmono] or the [Samsung GDI package|http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/maco sx/samsung-gdi].

With regards to the subnet and mask i would assume that ton1to is using a standard dlink router or something like that with DHCP enabled so if the laptop and the windows computer are plugged or wirelessly using that same router there will be no problem with the addressing scheme. It is more likely that there is a config issue somewhere usually a small one.

hey Pahu you and EVERYONE else here ( that has helped out) have been fantastic; you wouldnt believe that i was JUST about to call apple support and try and organise a tech to fix it because i had work documents all in queue, and after several checks, and working together with my PC; i got it working from just going on the " windows" tab on 'print & fax' icon in system preferences. Finally all the explaining finally fell into place, and now is working entirely. massive cheers!!
