Apple TV not finding iTunes Library

I have Apple TV gen 2 connected wirelessly to my home network. I cannot find my iMac library with Home Sharing enabled. All network connections are active and correct. My only question is: How dependent on the internet speed is ATV? If the connection is slow (slightly higher than dial-up), will there be problems syncing libraries?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I updated my router and restarted it and it worked but only until I shut down I tunes on my laptop - once I reopened it its' not really loading my laptop -

Restarting the router gets it back working - but ONLY until I close and reopen itunes then the connection appears in atv but it just doesn't communicate with the itunes library on the mac - Does try loading - that just spins forever - ..

assuming that all home sharing etc is turned on, quit iTunes on your computer and then re-open it while holding the OPT key. It will ask you if you want to accept incoming network connections. click OK as many times as you need to. I found that my remote app suddenly started to work as well (after months of trying other ways to make it work)..
