Iphone won't show up in itunes

I have been having the same problems but every time I try to look up support it only talks about windows computers. I have a macbook pro 15 inch that I bought in July of this year and recently I cannot get my iphone to even appear as a device anywhere on my computer. It will charge and everything but I have tried everything and I cannot seem to find an answer. Can anyone help me with this

i also have the same problem, after updating my itunes to 10.6, my i phone does not appear anywhere on my macbook pro, ive spent exactly 11hours trying and..... nope!!!!! please help. i think it has something to do with missing extention(s) re-installing and re booting both my phone and laptop but still...nothig!

I have had the same problem with both my iPhone 4 and my iPod Touch. I have a 15" Macbook Pro. I have spent hours, days, weeks looking for a solution and tried everything mentioned, with no luck. The phone shows up under "devices" and sometimes on the right next to the "iTunes Store" button, but if I click "iPhone" there, it actually disappears and then wont even show up under "devices" anymore. This is maddening. I cant use my ringtones or anything. I agree with the guy who's ready to sue apple. This is NO fun!

I tell ya'll why- cause 'smart phones,' in terms of the time you'll try to get them working smoothly and consistently, will cost you far more dearly even than the hefty price tags you're paying for them. They just don't work. Unless you enjoy troubleshooting your firewalled buggy device, I'd suggest a Mac Air and a digital camera instead.

I've had a little, acceptable problems from my computers and NOTHING BUT TROUBLE from iPhones. And iTunes is a bloated, buggy, unintuitive piece of bloat in itself. And the iTunes Store- ha, don't get me started.

As for the solution, whenever I can't get stuff from the iPhone to the computer, I email it to myself. I'd use iCloud, but it doesn't work either. Dropbox is also buggy. Good luck.
