Iphone 3gs replacement battery

I found out from a tech guy that the battery within my Iphone 3gs is dead. Since the phone is still good otherwise and replacement batterys are quite cheap I was thinking to have it changed. Searching the ebay I found various of batterys amongst them one with 1600 mAH. Is it really worth going for such a battery and are they safe or should I go with the traditional one(maybe someone can tell me how much mAH the original batterys have).

I always recommend you use OEM parts whenever replacing any parts in an iphone. I've seen restore & update errors in itunes when some non-OEM parts are used. iTunes performs a hardware check when updating or restoring software, the use of non-OEM parts can generate error messages, thus preventing your phone from being updated or restored. The original 3GS battery was a 1200mAh 3.7V Battery. Use of any battery not meeting these specs may/may not produce problems. You can purchase OEM parts here:
