Why iTunes 10 crashes when accessing the iTunes Store?

Glad I am not the only one here with this happening. I just posted a new topic on this also. getting frustrated.

I contacted Apple support again via email and after a back-and-forth they left as the answer that I can pay for a consultation with a support tech to fix this problem.

Perfect. I'm having a similar issue where iTunes just crashes on startup, I don't even have to go into the store - I don't have time. It crashes within 30 seconds of starting up.

It's extremely frustrating, and the fact that Apple is telling people to pay for a consult instead of - I don't know - looking into what's a common issue - makes me seriously lose faith in their product and their service.

Wow, I am still having the same issue too and no solution in my thread either. Same report shows up in mine also. I have done all the same things/fixes that everyone has suggested and then some.

Apple... can you please check in to this? Tks! Something is not right.

Pretty sure I am having the same issue. For whatever reason my iTunes is stuck selected on the iTunes Store, so whenever I try to open my iTunes it goes directly to that page. It says it's connecting to the iTunes store, and then crashes. I keep checking for system updates hoping that the problem will be corrected, and one came out today that I just used, but it still does the same thing. I am getting the same error message as everyone else, and I still haven't received any response from Apple about this. Frustrating

In the end I re-formatted my drive and re-installed 10.6.6. Then I restored my account from my Time Capsule (using the migration assistant). It's a simple but lengthy and inconvenient process. But the problem seems to have gone away now.

I wish Apple would release a 'real' fix for this though.

reformatting etc seems a bit much, but glad that you were patient enough to do so and that it worked for you. iTunes crashes on my iMac whenever I try to access certain TV shows. So no Aaron Stone or Mario TV shows for my kids. I'm updating iTunes so hopefully there will be a fix. I just assume every time there's a crash its Apple's way of saying I should update.

Same Problem here. OS 10.5.8 with iTunes 10.2. Problem occurred when updating to 10.1.2.
Now I am using iTunes just local.
Apple your loosing business here

I'm having the same issue. Every time I click the store iTunes crashes. Frustrating because I was trying to watch the Academy Award nominated short films. This problem probably existed before, but I never use the store anyway, so I didn't notice :-D

No answers from apple or iTunes.been viewing everyones fix its. Nothing has worked for me, that i have tried. Mainly ****** because after redeeming some credits this @%@%@% happens.Its like,renting a room then having to sleep on a park bench.riigghht.

I also was having sudden crashes whenever iTunes would contact the server.

This Fix worked for me:
I used KeyChain First Aid as noted in

and the problem went away.

Apparently my keychain access had problems and the machine crashed whenever iTUnes tried to use the keychain. I did note some other keychain related issues: machine not remembering wireless passwords, etc.

Good luck with this solution.

I gave that a try but iTunes still crashed when I tried to access the iTunes store. Thanks for the suggestion.
