Why iTunes 10 crashes when accessing the iTunes Store?

iTunes 10 is local working well after starting. I can play all my music, videos , etc. When I like to access the iTunes store iTunes crashes without any warning.

What can I do, to fix the probleme?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem and kinda solved it by disabling internet (removed the cable). Then restarted iTunes. Of course it barfes that it cannot connect to the iTunes store. I clicked on the sign out option in the menu and disabled Genius. Then I closed iTunes again, reconnected the network and the problem was gone. At least for me.

Hope it helps.

My boss just asked me to help him with this.

Assuming you are using Windows 7, iTunes 10:

Navigate to the iTunes icon.

Right-click on the icon, select properties.

Click "Advanced"

Put a checkmark in the box next to "Run this program as an Administrator".

Click on the "Compatibility" tab.

Put a checkmark in the box next to "Run this program as an Administrator".

Click on "Change settings for all users".

Put a checkmark in the box next to "Run this program as an Administrator".

Apply changes and close.

Optionally: try restarting if it doesn't appear to work the first time.

People.... It seems this problem has been returning over the last 2 years.

I have a really unstable iTunes 10 now. Sometimes it crashes right on start-up, sometimes when I access the store. Nothing seems to help and i can fand no good solutions.

Tried reinstalling several times with no luck.

What helps is when I connect my iPhone in restore mode. Thing is though I have to do this over and over again. It's not a permanent fix.

iTunes just basically *****. Always has and always will.

Hi,

I've been fighting this problem for over a year. I tried reinstalling itunes but no luck. Each time I accessed the store, it crashed. I decided to go through my Itunes preferences and check my settings for the "store". I saw that the only thing that was checked was "Share details about your library with Apple". I decided to uncheck it. I tried itunes again and like magic I finally saw the store. It just happened so I dont know if it was a happy accident or not. I'll keep using it until it breaks.

I went back into my itunes preferences and checked the settings for the store again. It now shows I have checks for "Sync playback information across devices", "Automatically download album artwork" and "Automatically download Apps". These may have been settings I had previously selected but the setting "Share details about your library with Apple" were preventing them from being set.

Anyway, I hope this helps someone.

I fixed it on my computer. Not sure which of the steps I did fixed it so I will list all of them.

I wasn't getting the error until I did the following (to prevent it from just crashing on logging into the iTunes Store)

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5561435?answerId=23987910022#23987910022

I added C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support; to the system variables PATH (depending on your operating system, your file path will be different). How to do that has been outlined in the above linked article.

This now caused DEP to freak out whenever I logged into the store and close iTunes. Adding iTunes to the DEP filter didn't solve the problem. So I removed all the saved system settings for iTunes and ran Apple Software Update. I also went to the DEP and added every .exe I could find in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple to the exceptions list (again, depending on your OS the file path may be different.)

To remove the saved system settings for iTunes you can find those in C:\Documents and Settings (for Win XP) or C:\Users (for Win 8). Find a folder named AppData or Application data under various user names and remove any Apple related files you can. I had one .log file that couldn't be deleted, but that shouldn't be a problem.
