belkin adc to dvi converter in dvi to mini dvi does it work?

Has anybody successfully plugged there old lcd studio display into there new mac mini (mini display port) using the supplied adapter and the adc to dvi belkin converter lead. I know you can buy the hugely over priced apple adc to dvi converter. but i really think its a rip off. has anyone had any success using the cheaper belkin cable? I heard a story that if you plug it in and zap the pram it works?

mac mini, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

I think that you are confused on which adapter is shipped with a new Mac mini. The adapter supplied by Apple with the Mid '10 Mac mini is an HDMI to DVI adapter, not a mini-DisplayPort to DVI adapter. You can buy the m-DP to DVI adapter as an extra purchase.

If the "old LCD Studio Display" that you mention has a DVI port, then you should only need a standard DVI to DVI cable to use in conjunction with the HDMI to DVI adapter.

It would help to answer your question better if you told us which Studio Display you have and what video in ports it has.
