Netflix pausing/buffering issues

Well then maybe they have the US and Canada site setup a little differently because there is a DVD option which we don't have. I verified those steps as I was typing.

Netflix dropped the DVD option from the online video menu this week because it was annoying people who have VOD-only accounts.

There is no HD streaming link. If a video is available in HD, it will stream in HD provided that the hardware and network connection can handle it. Netflix adjusts the bit rate dynamically during playback depending on the connection speed. If the connection speed changes, the bit rate will change.

Well I can tell you that here in Canada there is a link to disable HD, I see no need for it since my streaming is flawless but was trying to suggest. If it's not possible on the US site then that's unfortunate.

I wonder if the ATV NetFlix app streams dynamically like the web app does, or if it is stuck at HD no matter what. When you start the web version it tells you that it is testing your connection to determine the quality etc. But the ATV does not seem to do that, at least not as far as I can tell.

I haven't found any links or settings in my account that let me select or disable HD or SD playback. The Netflix player does a graphics test before it starts streaming so that it can set the playback resolution dynamically depending on the capabilities of the device.

Like i've said, it looks as though it's setup differently on the Canadian site. Maybe they don't offer the option over there, I have no way of checking. So let's just leave it at that.

In any case, I think the ATV tries to get the best quality and won't drop down quality as immediately as other devices

Your Apple tv does not work with netflix. My mac pro, my macbook, ipad and my Ps3 work PERFECTLY EVERY TIME.

For me , watching a movie trailer takes over 2 minutes to get started, my downloads when i rent range from instant to 17 hours. Meanwhile all my other devices have no issuesa

Worst apple product ever. My first Mac ran at 11mhz, not Ghz and it can still check email with no problems. It's far more useful than the ATV.

That option should be directed at Netflix via feedback, if it isn't there.

Netflix works for me, I know it doesn't for everyone but you can't say it's an ATV problem when consumers are experiencing similar issues across many devices.

There are many variables to consider when dealing with rental issues.

If everything is slow it could be a wifi issue. Try connecting your ATV by Ethernet cable and see if that makes a difference.

they don't want you to use netflix, it's just a draw so you purchase or rent movies and tv series from itunes which I never would do because amazon rules over itunes and all I wanted was netflix also. What a waste of money, it's slow and the picture quality stinks I should have waited for google tv
