I had the same issue.
Set the phone to flight mode. Delete voicemail and delete again from the deleted folder. Seems to have resolved my issue!
Hope that helps.
Switching to Airplane mode - allows the messages to be permentanly deleted - Aplenty needs to fix this issue -
Thanks, but wow! Is there an update, patch, fix whatever? Do we know?
Yup the delete one at a time and clear all from deleted finally worked.
same here
On phone with AT&T Enhanced Support re my iPhone 5s.
Airplane mode thing didn't work, but deleting one at a time did.
AT&T and Apple please fix this!
Oh as an added bonus, this is not a one time fix. If you delete a set of messages, the problem will occur again. Just forcing you to have a "zero inbox" policy on your voicemails.
Am I the only one for whom this problem has totally been fixed after the 7.1 software update?
Totally fixed....
I too appeared to be 'cured' after 7.1. My headset drops all the freaking time now...but the phantom email issue looks to be resolved.
I love that this thread is over four years old, and the bug is still happening. Incredible. Imagine the things Apple could accomplish if they actually paid attention to feedback in the support forums.
Yup. Just did this before finding your post. It works.
THanks, worked! Never would have tried airplane mode so thanks for your research.
Yes!!!! Thank you...It worked!!!
I was getting that crazy eyes look messing with this iPhone SE until I found your resolution to the issue.
Thanks a million for the problem solver!
Having same issue the red dot icon has been appearing for months. With no voice mails. I just went and deleted call history on missed calls and it finally went away immediately and has not returned.
Thank you Verick! Problem solved.
