My iphone 3gs is displaying the wrong time in the automatic setting. It works when you set it ur self but as soon as you switch it back to automatic it changes again to almost 2 hours behine.

I have tried restoring it, pressing the top and home button untill it reboots... Any other suggestions please?

korinakim, you really are a genius! Had the same issue after replacing the battery on my 3GS (which I did a few times before without having the issue afterwards), the clock deviated by like 17mins. I tried everything and of course thought about the replacement but didn't consider this being the reason.

No I just had to disconnect logic board and battery as you described and everything works perfect! Guess the RTC-Chip get confused in some was and has to be powered off and back on.

I had the issue on my iPhone 3G, after sitting pretty much unused for 2 years, recently it wouldnt auto-update.

So, i reset, turn off/on, took the useless GoPhone SIM out, reset etc again... nothing...

Then, i simply go to settings>general>reset>and selected reset network settings. That fixed it.

Resetting the network settings blanks the network preferences to factory default, which, if there are no other issues, should fix the problem.

You don't need to take the battery out, thats rediculous and no one should have recomended such a thing.
