I downloaded and install the Beta and got this message

"You are missing a critical security patch. Please use Software Update to install Secrurity Update 2010-005"

Which I tried to but that update does not show up

i still don't have mine signing in. i have done the launchagents trick and the DNS trick.
however,i still got nothing.
do i have to have a mac address?

i have little snitch but it doesn't work whether i have it off or on, in fact it doesn't even seem to try to connect with anything. usually little snitch would tell me. i sometimes see it trying to connect to configuration.apple.com but i don't know what that does. i even made a rule in little snitch not to block Facetime.

it just doesn't seem to work.

I tried everything, but I uninstalled peer guardian and that did the trick.

I even checked my current processes before uninstalling peer guardian and it showed no signs of PG running in the background whatsoever.

Things I tried:
Connecting to a neighbors WiFi.
Connected to Android Tether.
Added 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 to my DNS
Turned off apple's firewall.
Cleared all network settings.
NONE OF THESE WORKED.

Solution:
Uninstalled peer guardian and connected without a hitch.
So uninstall any software that may be blocking access to facetime.

To check if you have a software blocking facetime:
Go to www.omegle.com and see if you connect fine.
If you do connect fine, then it is probably another problem.
If it hangs on connecting to server, then there is a good chance it is installed program causing the problem.

I hope this helps!

aight so i'm new to macs, i downloaded facetime off the apple website, and it said it's downloaded... but when i click on it, it just brings up a screen that asks me to download it again. soooo i need help gettin this thing downloaded, what do i do?

Welcome to Discussions, Mandeezy

Restart your Mac to be sure of a fresh try with nothing else on your desk while you start over.
(It not be necessary to restart before future downloads, but restart now to know what is happening.)

(1) Wait while your Mac verifies the download. This will take only a minute or two for a file of FaceTime's size.

You will know that the download has been verified when you will see a new window open in the center of your display that says "Install FaceTime" at the top.

This window will contain a smaller pane that says "This package will run a program to determine if the software can be installed...."

(2) Click the "Continue" button and follow the directions in the subsequent windows that open.

BTW, if you haven't seen it, you will find good info in http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/
