iPhoto '11 — View Keywords doesn't work, they're missing!

I just upgraded to iLife '11 — in iPhoto, keywords no longer appear under the pictures. I can toggle "View Ratings" on/off and I see the stars. However, the keywords are missing!

Anyone else having this problem?!? I am disappoint.

I also find this amazing that such a useful feature has been turned off. I did find a workaround to share.

If you don't use Flag for anything else, then you can search for keyword XYZ, select All, Flag selected, cancel search.

Now the flag shows up for all the photos with that keyword. You can scroll and review your album, and turn on /off the flag for each picture.

When all done, use the keyword panel to remove keyword XYZ from all photos, then go to recent/Flagged album, select all, and set keyword XYZ on all. Finally, remove flags from all.

Irritating, but better than nothing

Yes you can bulk keyword photos:

1 - select the photos you want to add the same keyword(s) to:

2 - type Command + K to bring up the Keyword pane.

User uploaded file

3 - click on the keyword(s) you want to add to all of the selected photos. Blue keywords indicate those assigned to the photos. Those without a dash (–) are assigned to all selected photos. Those with a dash (–) are assigned only to a subset of the selected photos.

MediaPro looks interesting. I spent some time on their website I could not determine if my existing iPhoto keywords can be imported into MediaPro. (I am using iPhoto 08.)

The cost is a little steep to. I am the only user, but I need my images on about 5 different Macintoshes. I believe I can run 2 machines per license, that adds up to about $600.

My pals at the Apple Store tell me the complaints about iPhoto 11 not displaying keywords is “massive”. With many customers looking for alternatives, this feature should be returned with iPhoto 14.

iPhoto 11 is starting to remind me of iMovie 08.
