iPhoto '11 — View Keywords doesn't work, they're missing!
Anyone else having this problem?!? I am disappoint.

Aperture. Opens the same Library. You can set it to show keywords. Or not.
MediaPro looks interesting. I spent some time on their website I could not determine if my existing iPhoto keywords can be imported into MediaPro. (I am using iPhoto 08.)
This tutorial describes how to move the iPhoto metadata to Media Pro: iP03 - Converting an iPhoto Library to a Media Pro Catalog System
Should I move back to Google Picasa??😟
Picasa does not store the photos on your computer. That is a big negative for many.

It does.
It does.
It does what ?
Picasa does store the image files on your computer.
Someone needs to tell Google.
From the below, "Picasa does not store the photos on your computer."
Well, I think if you know a little about the app rather than just the poorly written blurb, you'll understand that it actually means that, rather than copying the photos into a Library, like iPhoto, it indexes them wherever they are on your computer. You need to read the paragraph below too, you see.
When you open Picasa, it simply looks at the folders on your computer and displays the photos it finds. It displays the file types that you tell it to find, in the folders that you tell it to search.
Well, I'm still searching for an alternative to iPhoto. 09 was the last version that worked for me. My work REQUIRES that keywords be below the image.
With iPhoto being discontinued, I may wait to see if the replacement (Photos for OS X) brings this highly desired feature back. Unfortunately, the trend seems to be that software has to run on a phone and a desktop in the same manner, so I am not optimistic.
Take a look at Photo Supreme. It's supposed to be a little iPhoto like but can operate from servers and use referenced libraries.
Another app, one that I use, is Media Pro 1. It does have the keywords below the thumbnails along with another metadata info you'd like as well in a side try to the left. When a photo's thumbnail is selected all of the metadata is associated with the photo is highlighted from the list at the left.
MP1 also lets you rename files, write metadata back to the file and lots more, is cross platform capable and can have the source files on a server. There's a demo version of both Photo Supreme and MP1 available.
I am back in iPhoto '09 and very happy. I still have iMovie '11 running (which I do like). Once Apple FIXES the BUGS, I'll reupgrade back.
Keywords is mna
Can I run iPhoto 09 with Mavericks? I'm currently using iPhoto 08 with Snow Leopard. I must have keywords under each image.
Probably not - although some older versions are in theory compatible with Mavericks in actual operation they turn out not to be

You can launch iPhoto '09, version 8.1.2 with Mavericks, but there are simply too many problems. It is not supported by Apple. The recommended version with Mavericks is iPhoto 9.5.1.
To see keywords below each image for your iPhoto library use Aperture 3.5.1. That is compatible with Mavericks and lets you configure freely what you will see in the browser or viewer.
iPhoto 8.1.2 is not compatible with Mavericks. It will open and you can view photos but many of the other functions do not work. You'll have to wait until Yosemite and the new Photos app is released to see if that will bring them back under the thumbnail.
